Pontypool Park is a large historic park covering around 150 acres, offering a mix of green space, heritage features and outdoor activities. Located in south Wales, it was originally the grounds of Pontypool House and dates back to the 17th century. With its scenic landscapes and wide range of facilities, it is a popular destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts.

Visitors can explore features like the Italian Gardens, Ice Houses, Shell Grotto and walking routes leading to the Folly Tower and nearby countryside. The park offers activities including a children’s play area, rugby pitch, tennis courts, pitch and putt, bowls and even a dry ski slope, along with footpaths connecting to the Brecon Beacons National Park. It also includes open meadows, mature woodland and riverside areas, making it ideal for walking, relaxing and outdoor sports. 

Entry to the park is completely free for all visitors.

  • Pontypool Park is locally known as the People’s Park, covering some 64 hectares with several historical features - including Italian Gardens, Ice Houses and Shell Grotto - which have been restored with a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and funding from Torfaen County Borough Council.
  • There is also a link from the Park, through adjacent farm land to the Folly Tower, via a public footpath. Facilities include a children's play area, rugby pitch (home to Pontypool RFC), tennis courts, pitch and putt, bowls and a dry ski slope.
  • Pontypool Park is a 150acre park containing predominantly mature trees with some open meadowland, and located in Pontypool in south Wales. The park was formerly the grounds of Pontypool House and was laid out in the closing years of the 17th century.
  • The park occupies a large area to the east of Pontypool town centre. The main park starts at Pontymoile Gates near New Inn and Pontymoile Basin, and finishes to the north close to St Alban's RC High School and Pontypool Museum (formerly the Hanbury's family house).
  • To the east it rises to a Folly Tower and a Shell Grotto. Its western border follows the Afon Lwyd river and Pontypool Leisure Centre, and Italian Gardens are located close to the western periphery.
