Pooh Corner is a charming attraction in Hartfield, on the edge of Ashdown Forest in East Sussex. It celebrates A.A. Milne’s famous creation, Winnie the Pooh, bringing the classic stories to life just a short walk from the original 100 Acre Wood. It is the perfect stop for both casual visitors and dedicated fans wanting to explore Pooh Country.

Visitors can explore the Toy and Gift Shop featuring current ranges from across the world and hand-picked vintage exclusives. The Tea Room offers two unique spaces – Piglet’s colourful family-friendly tea room and the E.H. Shepard tea room filled with vintage artwork – serving homemade sandwiches, cakes, scones and treats with options for gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free diets. The free “Pooh’seum” showcases 95 years of Winnie the Pooh history with artwork, toys and books, and visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Poohsticks Bridge and the Pooh Walk across the 100 Acre Wood (guide map available for £1.50).

Tea Room: Our tea room offers two unique areas to chose between (space permitting). You can enjoy the full out fun Piglets tea room, celebrating the colourful world of Pooh, perfect for the whole family. And for those wanting a retreat or more historic space for meetings or couples retreat we’ve got the E.H. Shepard tea room, full of vintage and much loved artwork.
The Pooh’seum!: A trip to Pooh Country is not complete without a cup of tea in our tea room and visit to our free museum showcasing the life of A.A.Milne, E.H.Shepard, Christopher Robin (and quite a few bits of Winnie the Pooh). From Artwork to Toys and Books, showcasing 95 years of Winnie the Pooh and his creators.
For Childrens: We want children to learn, engage and love Winnie the Pooh and his friends and we will do our best to make sure they are entertained during their visit. However, many of the items on display are not for play and we hope you as adults support us in ensuring that care and respect is given in the retail section. There is an area in the fireplace where all toys are there for play. Feel free to grab anything from this and enjoy these toys then return them at the end of your visit.

Facilities

Parking: During the week there is free road side parking along Hartfield's High Street. At the weekend and during the school holidays, parking is also available at St Mary's C of E Primary School which is a short walk away from us at Pooh Corner. Please park considerately and do not park blocking any drive ways or across foot paths.
Food & Drinks: We serve a range of fresh homemade sandwiches, cakes, scones and treats everyday in our tearoom. We can cater for almost all dietary needs from gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and dairy-free, we have something for everyone on our menu.
Toilets: We have a toilet which requires access via two smalls steps. Our new toilet facility offers a drop down baby changing unit.

What to see

Pooh Things To Do…

Pooh Sticks Bridge: The original bridge was built in 1907 and originally called Posingford Bridge. Local historians suggest it is the bridge on which Milne and Christoper Milne first played the game. The bridge maintained the public’s interest and a campaign to rebuild it in the late seventies was considered important enough to feature on the BBC Nine O’Clock News. The bridge was subsequently reopened by Christopher Robin Milne and officially renamed as Poohsticks Bridge. The site was so popular that in 1999 the East Sussex county council made an appeal to Disney as the old wooden bridge had been worn down by an overwhelming number of visitors.
The Pooh Walk: The Pooh Walks across the 100 Aker Wood are the perfect way to spend a day. The walks will take you to some of the sites of Pooh’s adventure. The shorter walk takes in The Enchanted Place and the Sandy Pit and is suitable for younger children. A longer walk descends to the North Pole and Eeyore’s Sad and Gloomy Place. We sell a £1.50 guide map here at Pooh Corner, so we suggest you pop in before your walk and one of our team can give you some directions.

FROM THE NORTH

From Junction 6 of the M25, head south towards East Grinstead on the A22. After Blindley Heath turn left onto the B2028 towards Lingfield and continue through the village, past Dormansland and through Marsh Green. At the T junction, turn left onto the B2026 Hartfield Road. Cross the staggered junction with the A264 and you’ll soon be in Hartfield.
If travelling from Sevenoaks (or North Kent), we propose heading along the A25 towards Westerham. Just before the village of Westerham turn south onto the B2026 (Hartfield Road) which will take you through Crockham Hill and Edenbridge. Cross the staggered junction with the A264 and you’ll soon be in Hartfield.

FROM THE EAST

From Tunbridge Wells, take the A264 through Langton Green. Just after Langton Green, turn right onto the Ashurst Road (A264) and follow through the villages of Ashurst and Blackham. Turn left onto the B2026 (junction with the Sussex Caravan Centre) and follow the road to the end, taking the right hand turn at the T Junction into Hartfield High Street. Pooh Corner is at the end of the High Street on the Right hand side.
From Crowborough (A26) take the London Road towards Lye Green. Follow through the village where the road turns into the B2188. Just after the village, take the first left after the Rockley Park Holiday Park onto Ladies Mile. At the end of Ladies Mile, turn left onto the B2110 and follow the road into Hartfield High Street.Pooh Corner is at the end of the High Street on the Right hand side.

FROM THE SOUTH

Heading North along the A22 you have 2 options, You can turn right at the mini roundabout in Forest Row and head along the B2110 which takes you through Coleman’s Hatch, Upper Hartfield and down into the south end of Hartfield. Pooh Corner is just on the left after the traffic calming.This route is particularly scenic.
Our personal favourite if you want some spectacular views. Turn right onto Coleman’s Hatch Road (next to the Wych Cross Garden Centre), past the Ashdown Forest Centre and into Coleman’s Hatch. At the end of the road you’ll find a T Junction on a hill. Turn right into Shepherds Road B2110 and down into the south end of Hartfield. Pooh Corner is just on the left after the traffic calming.

FROM THE WEST

From East Grinstead (A22) follow the signs for the Queen Victoria Hospital (via Moat Road to the South of the town or the B2110 to the North). Once past the Hospital continue on the A264 through Hammerwood and Hotye. Turn right onto the B2026 (junction with the Sussex Caravan Centre) and follow the road to the end, taking the right hand turn at the T Junction into Hartfield High Street. Pooh Corner is at the end of the High Street on the Right hand side.
Or our personal favourite if you are not in a rush and want some spectacular views! Follow the A22 through East Grinstead, Ashurst Wood and Forest Row. Continue along the A22 until Wych Cross, then right onto Coleman’s Hatch Road (next to the Wych Cross Garden Centre) past the Ashdown Forest Centre and into Coleman’s Hatch. At the end of the road you’ll find a T Junction on a hill. Turn right into Shepherds Road B2110 and down into the south end of Hartfield. Pooh Corner is just on the left after the traffic calming.

By Bus

The 291 bus between Crawley, East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells operates through Hartfield daily. The bus runs approximately every hour.

By Train

From London Victoria or London Bridge we advise travelling to East Grinstead. From London Charing Cross go to Tunbridge Wells (Not Tonbridge!). From either East Grinstead or Tunbridge Wells you take a taxi or ride the 291 bus to Hartfield Village.
From the South we’d suggest Three Bridges or Uckfield (dependent on bus schedules).
