If you visit during Spring you will find snowdrops, crocus, daffodils, cherry blossom and bluebells, then as we head into Summer the borders start to bloom and the inner courtyard is filled with colourful fragrant roses. Outside discover the Grade II* listed Victorian Orangery, enchanting woodland walks, a fishing lake and spectacular views across the Kent countryside for all.

  • Collections: From Ancient Egypt to Japan and beyond, Chiddingstone Castle is home to five impressive collections which are the lifetime’s work by one gifted collector. These collections are displayed throughout the historic house, which was his home from 1955 to 1977.
  • Woodland Watch: These journals give you an insight into our conservation volunteers observations and efforts to preserve and protect this wonderful Fauna and Flora we treasure so much. 
  • Family Fun: Can you find these weird and wonderful objects? Download our trail or quiz and discover castle curiosities with your family and friends.  Use the pictures on the ‘Trail of Curiosities’ sheet to find curiosities in the castle rooms. Try out the ‘Trail of Curiosities Quiz’ sheet to look closer and learn more about the objects.
  • Fields of Eternity: Ancient Egyptian equivalent of heaven, the Fields of Eternity were a perfect version of Egypt, where every good person would live forever in the afterlife. Chiddingstone Castle’s Fields of Eternity — you will find them beyond the lawn in front of the main entrance — are similarly a microcosm of Ancient Egypt. A cross between grass-maze, garden and trail, they offer the chance to explore various zones; and they provide all ages with a pleasant place in which to walk, to play and to discover.
  • Fishing: Book Fishing online, We ask that all fishermen behave respectfully towards the Castle staff and other visitors and abide by a few rules to ensure everyone is safe.

  • Parking: Parking is free for the first 45 minutes, then charged at £1 for 1 extra hour or £3 for the full day (+20p Ringo fee).
  • Tea Room: Enjoy a cream tea, a full afternoon tea (please pre-book) or just pop in for a cup of tea and choose from a selection of delicious cakes and savouries.

Events: 

  • Chiddingstone Castle Wedding Venue Showcase: Sunday 28th September- The Chiddingstone Castle team are excited to be hosting another Wedding Showcase. Guests are invited to come along to meet the team and see our beautiful venue set up for a wedding by our suppliers.
  • Weald of Kent and Sussex Run: Sunday 28th September- Welcome the Classic Vehicle Group as they make their final stop of the day on the Castle’s North Lawn.
  • Autumnal Wreath Making Workshop & Afternoon Tea: Saturday 4th October- Join Emma from Fuller-Wilke Florals with her Autumnal wreath making workshop on the 4th October. Come along with friends for a fun afternoon to create your own Autumnal masterpiece. All materials for wreath making are supplied and Emma will be offering expert tips and guidance to ensure you have a beautiful creation to proudly take home.
