Redwings Caldecott, the largest visitor centre in the Redwings network, is home to nearly 100 rescued horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules. Visitors can meet mini but mighty Shetland pony Sampson, as well as a whole herd of donkeys and mules, including the adorable donkey Esther and the handsome Shire Fox, making it a perfect destination for families and animal lovers alike. Please note that retired Adoption Stars Victoria and Sampson are currently away at Redwings Horse Hospital, and the centre looks forward to welcoming them back soon.

While entry is free, donations are greatly appreciated to support the ongoing care of Redwings’ rescued residents.

    • Noah – Mule: Handsome Noah is a marvellous mule, standing 12.2hh and brown in colour. He loves attention and is a favourite among visitors.
    • Lily – Native Cross: Adorable Lily enjoys meeting new people and a good fuss! Height 12.2hh, dapple grey in colour.
    • Esther – Donkey: Rescued at just two months old, Esther became a national symbol of hope after the Amersham rescue. Height 9.3hh, brown in colour.
    • Sampson – Shetland Pony: Mini but mighty, Sampson loves nothing more than a cuddle! Height 9.3hh, rose grey in colour.
    • Fox – Shire Cross: Stunning Shire Cross Fox is a gentle giant, standing 17.1hh and black in colour.
  • Stay at Redwings Caldecott: Visitors can now book a stay at Redwings Caldecott in the beautifully renovated Sanctuary Rooms at Caldecott Hall. The accommodation includes three ensuite bedrooms, a living area, and a kitchenette, comfortably hosting up to six guests. On-site amenities include a golf course, spa and leisure centre, and easy access to Redwings every weekend. Nearby, guests can enjoy the Fritton Arms restaurant and pub, explore the Norfolk Broads, and visit the stunning Norfolk/Suffolk coastline.
  • Memory Garden: The Memory Garden at Redwings Caldecott offers a peaceful and reflective space for visitors to remember lost loved ones, including both people and pets.   • By car: Redwings Caldecott is situated on the A143 between Great Yarmouth and Beccles, opposite Fritton Lake. Postcode: NR31 9EY. The centre has free, on-site parking, including disabled parking bays. The centre currently doesn't have charging points for electric cars, but you can find a live map showing all nearby charging points and their availability here.
  • By bus: The 580 bus, operated by Border Bus, runs between Harleston and Great Yarmouth and drops off passengers in Fritton. The bus stop is one mile away (20 min walk) from Redwings Caldecott, but please be aware there is no pavement that leads from the stop to the entrance of the visitor centre.
  • By train: The closest train station is Haddiscoe, which is 2.8 miles away. You can pre-book a taxi with Newline Taxis on 01493 780156.
  • By bike: This area is popular with cyclists due to its location on the edge of the beautiful Norfolk Broads and all are welcome. If you're visiting on holiday, why not make the trip by bike? And if you're a member a cycling club, why not make a trip to Redwings Caldecott to meet our rescued ponies and enjoy refreshments from our cafe as part of your regular bike rides.
