Redwings Caldecott is the largest visitor centre of Redwings Horse Sanctuary and is home to nearly 100 rescued horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules. Visitors can meet favourites like the mini but mighty Shetland pony Sampson, the sweet donkey Esther, and Fox the handsome Shire. Entry is completely free, and dogs on leads are welcome, making it a great day out for the whole family.

Guests can enjoy a walk around the paddocks, relax with tea and cake in Oliver’s Café, and browse the gift shop where all proceeds support the care of the animals. The centre also offers on-site accommodation in the beautifully renovated Sanctuary Rooms at Caldecott Hall. Free parking, disabled access, and baby changing facilities are available for visitors’ convenience.

Entry is free for all visitors, with donations welcome to support the sanctuary’s work.

Redwings Caldecott is our largest visitor centre and is currently home to almost 100 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.

Here you can meet mini but mighty Shetland pony Sampson, plus a whole herd of donkeys and mules including adorable donkey Esther and Fox the handsome Shire!

After a stroll around the paddocks, enjoy a slice of cake and a warm cuppa in Oliver's cafe. You can also browse the on-site gift shop, and all sale proceeds go towards the care of Redwings' residents, including those you meet on your visit.

The bus stop is one mile away (20 min walk) from Redwings Caldecott, but please be aware there is no pavement that leads from the stop to the entrance of the visitor centre.
  • By Car: Redwings Caldecott is situated on the A143 between Great Yarmouth and Beccles, opposite Fritton Lake. Postcode: NR31 9EY. The centre has free, on-site parking, including disabled parking bays.
  • By Train: The closest train station is Haddiscoe, which is 2.8 miles away. You can pre-book a taxi with Newline Taxis on 01493 780156.
