Collections: The Royal Engineers Museum Collection contains over a million items that together tell a story that encompasses the extremes of human experience in peace and war as well as 300 years of military, engineering and scientific development.
Exhibitions: The Royal Engineers Museum is delighted to host Rochester and West Kent Art Society’s Spring Exhibition. The exhibition opens in The Small Space on Tuesday 31st March and runs until Sunday 14th June. Rochester and West Kent Art Society is celebrating its centenary year with a Springtime exhibition. As an antidote to the gloomy weather of 2026.
Galleries: Through its galleries, the museum tells the story of the Corps of Royal Engineers and how Sappers have supported the British Army to live, move, and fight for over 300 years. Displays explore the development of military technology and highlight the experiences of individual soldiers from the Napoleonic Wars, 19th-century conflicts, the two World Wars, and more recent operations.
Families: There’s plenty for families to enjoy, including the Snob the Dog trail, dressing-up activities, and hands-on and digital interactives to keep younger visitors entertained. Don’t forget to try the First World War Play Tank before you leave!
Holiday Fun: There is always something extra on at the Museum during the school holidays. Trails and craft activities are designed to spark creativity and curiosity for the whole family and often link to the Museum’s Special Exhibitions.
