The Saltaire Treasure Hunt Trail
0.94 miles
Shipley Glen Tramway is a historic funicular tramway located in Baildon, Shipley, United Kingdom. It offers a short but scenic tram ride through woodland, connecting the top of Shipley Glen with Roberts Park below. The attraction is a relaxed, family-friendly experience and a popular part of a day out in the area.
A ride on the tram is the main attraction, travelling through beautifully scenic woods down the glen. Journeys start from either the upper station at Prod Lane, which has an olde-world shop selling sweets, or the lower station near Roberts Park, where there is an information centre showing the tramway’s history. During holidays, special events are held, including Santa’s Specials, and visitors can easily continue their day exploring Roberts Park, the River Aire, the Leeds–Liverpool Canal, and Salts Mill nearby.
Ticket prices are £3.00 for an adult return (day rover) or £2.00 for a single, and £1.50 for junior return (ages 6–15) or £1.00 for a single. Tickets can be bought on arrival for normal rides, while special events can be booked in advance.
Shipley Glen Tramway offers a charming and traditional experience in a peaceful natural setting. Its combination of heritage transport, woodland views, and nearby attractions makes it enjoyable for all ages. With affordable pricing and simple access, it is a lovely addition to any visit to Shipley, Saltaire, or Roberts Park.
