Stratford Town Walk is a guided walking tour experience in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, led by professional and award-winning guides. Running since 2002, it is considered one of Stratford-upon-Avon’s premier walking tour experiences.

The attraction offers daily Town Walks that explore Stratford’s historic streets and its strong connection with William Shakespeare, from his Birthplace to his grave. It also features a popular Ghost Walk, held on Saturdays and at Halloween, focusing on Stratford’s darker history through theatrical storytelling. Additional activities include private bespoke tours, themed walks such as Town Walk with ghost stories and Walking Without Will (a non-Shakespeare tour).

The Town Walk costs £10 for adults, £5 for children aged 8–15, and is free for children under 8. The Ghost Walk costs £12 for adults and £6 for children, and may not be suitable for under 8s. Private and bespoke tours are available, with pricing provided on request rather than fixed packages.

Meet on Waterside, by a lamppost close to the swan fountain, 200 yards in front of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and opposite the junction of Sheep Street. The ‘blue balloon’ shows the location for the swan fountain. 

Travel Information to Stratford upon Avon by Car

  • Stratford upon Avon is a 15 minute drive from junction 15 of the M40. When leaving the M40 take the A46 towards Stratford.
  • From the North the M40 can be accessed from the M6 and M42.
  • From the North East the M1 leads to the M69 then the A46.
  • From the South West M5 take junction 9 Tewkesbury/Evesham and follow the A46.
  • From the South (Oxford) use A3400 towards Shipston on Stour, then on to Stratford upon Avon.

  • Stratford upon Avon (central) train station is a 5 minute walk from the town centre. 
  • Other nearby stations are Stratford Parkway (10 mins by taxi)
  • Warwick Parkway (20 mins by taxi)
