Wellington Arch located in the heart of the capital opposite Apsley House, Wellington Arch is one of London’s most iconic monuments. It’s crowned by the largest bronze sculpture in Europe: the Angel of Peace descending on the Chariot of War. Climb up to the arch’s balconies and you’ll get panoramic views over central London. 

Time your visit right, and you can see the Household Cavalry passing beneath, as they ride to and from the Changing of the Guard at Horse Guards Parade. Within the arch, you’ll discover displays revealing its fascinating story. On the second floor, you’ll find a display about the Royal Regiment of Artillery, 1914-1918. On the top two floors you can enjoy changing displays of contemporary art from the Vigo Gallery.

  • Parking: There’s no parking at Wellington Arch. The closest car park is at NCP Hyde Park (not managed by English Heritage). There is parking for one vehicle in the forecourt of Apsley House (across the road from Wellington Arch) for disabled visitors. Book this space in advance by calling 020 7499 5676.
  • Food And Drink: There are no food and drink facilities at Wellington Arch.
  • Toilets: There are no public toilets on site except for disabled facilities. The nearest toilets are at Apsley House or in Hyde Park.
  • Dogs: Dogs are not allowed, although Assistance Dogs are welcome.
