Abbotsholme School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 18 (Gender - 2 to 18 )
Abbotsholme School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2 to 18, set within 140 acres of beautiful countryside on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border. Abbotsholme’s tradition of individuality, excellence and community is reflected in the character and disposition of the pupils. At Abbotsholme, they inspire the pupils to be the best version of themselves. They prize learning as a ‘total picture’ aimed at providing a balance between a pupil’s intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual needs. The pupils do well academically, excel on the games field, make inspiring music, develop creativity and challenge themselves on the farm or through our extensive outdoor education programme.
NURSERY (AGE 2 - 4)
They at Abbotsholme are a nursery that is suitable to anyone from the age of 2. They offer a very caring, nurturing and a family like environment! The nursery is based on the grounds of Abbotsholme School, which means that our children have access to amazing facilities and they get involved with countless activities whilst they are with them. The wonderful facilities that Abbotsholme has to offer, both indoors and out, will provide your child with a broad range of experiences to support and enhance them as a unique child. The experienced and enthusiastic staff follow the interests of each individual child to ensure that they make good progress in all areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). They work in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure we support every child’s strengths and weaknesses. They believe that each child deserves the best possible start to their learning and development in a secure, safe and happy setting.
PREP
Abbotsholme Prep School is a dynamic community in which staff offer outstanding pastoral care within small classes so that each child feels happy, secure and supported by their class teacher, whilst enjoying the benefits of specialist teaching in a broad range of subjects. Personalised and carefully differentiated teaching allows every child to develop a love of learning and achieve their academic potential in a nurturing environment.Learning focusses on developing pupils who are confident to challenge and question, who are creative and resilient in their approach and are reflective learners with the confidence to apply their skills and knowledge beyond the classroom.Individual progress is carefully tracked and discussed with pupils, with the addition of support and challenge appropriate to every child. Strong home-school links are central to our school with a wide range of family events throughout the year.
SENIOR SCHOOL
In the classroom, on the sports field, in the art studio, in one of the many outdoor pursuits, on the farm or on the stage, all pupils can find opportunities to test their abilities and to find areas in which they can excel. They recognise the strengths and individuality of each of our pupils, harness their abilities, and allow them to flourish. The teaching staff inspire a love of learning and nurture enquiring minds.A small school community ensures that staff get to know the pupils and their needs, which in turn allows for the pupil to be fully engaged in a way that suits their learning, thus developing their ability to make the most of their future opportunities. Character development is an essential part of life in the Senior School. It is important that the pupils develop an understanding of the school's core values - honesty, humility, courage, integrity and respect. This moral core is central to the academic, creative, cultural and social development of each student, allowing them to become mature, independent individuals, ready for the next step.
SIXTH FORM
Sixth Form students are the role models for the School in terms of attitude, appearance and commitment, ensuring that Abbotsholme is a friendly and supportive environment for all. We encourage and welcome everybody into our community. They have a broad variety of subjects on offer which range from BTEC qualifications in Sport and Agriculture to the more traditional A Levels in Mathematics and Science. The promise is to develop well-rounded and responsible members of society who can celebrate the success of others just as much as their own. This is integral to everything we do at Abbotsholme Sixth Form. With this in mind, the range of extra-curricular activities that is on offer is outstanding; from an enormous choice in competitive sport to bee-keeping and climbing, and many other outdoor pursuits. There is something for everyone to become passionate about; boosting those fundamental employability skills in communication, team working, leadership, risk taking, planning and determination.
