YEAR 7 AND 8 CURRICULUM
Students are taught in groups of approximately 25 or 30 depending on subject. During Year 7 students are introduced to the study of Spanish and German, and the vast majority choose to study one of these languages (in addition to the subjects above) in Year 8.
GCSE PROGRAMME
During Years 9-11, virtually all students follow GCSE courses in: Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Religious Studies, English Literature. In addition, students will: study a GCSE course in at least one foreign language, study a GCSE course in at least one of Geography or History
SIXTH FORM
They are delighted that the vast majority of our Year 11 students choose to continue with us to study A Levels in the Sixth Form. They are joined by a growing number of students from a range of other local schools including an ever-increasing number of girls. Students who join us in Year 12 are quickly integrated into the year group and make a significant contribution to the Sixth Form and School.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
The volume and diversity of extra-curricular activities ensures that the interests and talents of individuals are met. Numerous trips provide good opportunities to experience and learn about different cultures. Alongside the annual ski trip and trips to the World War I Battlefields, the languages department have offered in recent years the opportunity for students to visit France, Spain and Germany. During the week before the summer half term students in Years 7 to 9 (whilst Year 10 complete their work experience) are engaged in a wide range of activities. A variety of trips out of school such as to Marwell Zoo, Kew Gardens and Portchester Castle are complemented by a number of activities in school, such as art and drama workshops, PSHE presentations, and enterprise/languages activities.
