Brabyns Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Stockport for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Nestled in the heart of picturesque Cheshire countryside in the small town of Marple, Brabyns Preparatory School is a co-educational independent day school for children aged two to eleven years. The unique surroundings and warm family ethos provide a peaceful and nurturing environment for the positive development and growth of all children at the school. Children are engaged with learning and given the support, encouragement and freedom they need to develop through exploring new opportunities. They acknowledge and appreciate each child's individual strengths and characteristics. They are instilled with confidence in our happy, caring environment whilst developing excellent life values and skills. This sits alongside their educational development to ensure every child is inspired to reach their potential.
Nursery
They endeavour to be one big family where our priority is to ensure the children feel secure and happy, within a cosy and nurturing environment. The youngest pupils benefit from two newly refurbished classrooms, with a dedicated outdoor space overlooking the picturesque countryside that surrounds the school. Nursery runs in conjunction with the 3 school terms, with additional specialist 'Activity Camp' provision offered during the majority of the school holidays. All children in Nursery are guaranteed a place in our Reception Class in the September following their 4th birthday.
Reception
In Reception at Brabyns, children enjoy learning from a broad curriculum, both inside and outside of the classroom, and are actively encouraged to develop their independence and question their discoveries. The children regularly interact with older children and other teaching staff, helping prepare them for a smooth transition into Year 1. There are still lots of opportunities for play, and the class makes regular trips outside school, including weekly trips for Forest School activities. The small class sizes (averaging around 16 children) and high staff to pupil ratios ensure that every individual’s talents are recognised and encouraged, enabling all children to reach their full potential.
Years 1 & 2
The Infants (Key Stage 1) at Brabyns is made up of two classes: Years 1 and 2. Within the Infants they work with every child to reinforce and build on the skills they have developed in the Foundation Stage. The emphasis throughout Infants is to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of key subjects whilst providing each child with opportunities to develop independence, self-confidence, self-discipline and self-esteem. The aim is to make learning a relevant, engaging and enjoyable process and one in which wide ranging skills are developed. Each individual is supported to reach their full potential in all areas of the broad curriculum.
Years 3 - 6
Juniors (Key Stage 2) at Brabyns is made up of four classes: Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Within the Juniors they encourage each individual to develop their independence and leadership skills and achieve to the best of their ability. They offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities in addition to a broad and balanced curriculum, which accommodates the requirements of the Independent Senior Schools, especially in Years 5 and 6.Housed in our Juniors building, children are able to make use of a dedicated science lab, creation studio and specialist music suite with recording studio.
Extra-Curricular
They firmly believe that the wider curriculum is just as important as the core curriculum in class. Developing the 'whole-child' is an essential part of the school's role. They do this in a variety of ways, by supplementing the curriculum with trips and visitor workshops as well as residentials for children from Year 1-6. This comprehensive range of activities enriches the taught curriculum. All children are encouraged to be fully involved, helping to develop and nurture every child’s strengths and interests.
Clubs
They offer a wide array of extra-curricular activities throughout the school year encompassing Performing Arts, Sports & Outdoor Activities, Creative Pursuits, and Academic & Social development. Clubs are available for children from Nursery to Year 6
