Brighton Avenue Primary School is a state primary school for kids age 3 - 11 (Gender - Mixed)
The school motto is, ‘Success for all ….because every child is a star!’ They truly believe every child is a ‘unique’ star and therefore the job is to make the stars shine. The whole school purpose is to ensure ‘every’ child is loved and valued, supported, challenged and encouraged to grow and develop into confident, well rounded young people. The ultimate aim is that the children leave the school feeling proud, successful and ready to take the next big steps in their learning journeys.
Curriculum
At Brighton Avenue Primary School, they truly believe every child is a “unique” star and therefore the whole school purpose is to make the stars shine! They recognise and value the uniqueness of every child and as a result, they constantly adapt the curriculum to meet the needs and interests of ‘all’ children. The aim is to provide opportunities for all children to develop as independent, confident, successful learners with high aspirations. Whilst a huge emphasis is placed on children learning the core skills of English and Maths to a high standard, they are totally committed to developing the ‘whole child’ and therefore provide a wide, engaging and purposeful programme of study for ‘ALL’ children.Through our enquiry-based curriculum, where there are no limits to learning and there is a clear development of skills and knowledge, they know that the children learn successfully. The children tell us they learn best through opportunities which inspire curiosity, allow collaborative working to problem solve and when they are active.
Sen
At Brighton Avenue School every child is a star and therefore all children deserve the very best. They pride ourselves on being an inclusive school and ensure that the necessary provision is in place to cater for all groups of children including those who have SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), language barriers or areas of vulnerability. In 2012 they were one of the first schools to achieve the National Gold Inclusion Award Standard in recognition of our efforts in this area. All children are rigorously tracked and monitored in order for us to indicate children which would benefit from additional support and also to identify what their barriers to learning may be. The SENDCo (Mrs Miller) and teaching/non-teaching staff have been trained (and are continuously updated) in specific areas of educational need and can provide tailored sessions to individuals or small groups of children in order to support them in making progress across the curriculum areas.
Breakfast Club
The school Breakfast Club starts at 8am and takes place in the Community Room, apart from Nursery who have their breakfast in the Nursery Class. There is no cost for the breakfast club as the club is currently funded by Greggs. During the session, children are provided with healthy breakfast options including cereal, toast and fruit juice. Once breakfast has been eaten, children will go into the school hall where a range of activities are offered such as board games, jigsaw puzzles and using the ICT.
