Carmel Christian School was founded in 1997 as an independent faith school in Brislington, Bristol. They have always identified our role as being an extension of the Christian home, though we welcome children of all faiths or none. The environment found in our setting is positive, encouraging and familial, where relationships are nurtured and each individual is celebrated. The staff count it a privilege to share the formative years of children from different backgrounds, nationalities and cultures. Over the years, we have been proud to watch the children in our setting develop in confidence, attentiveness, respect and self-awareness so that by the time they leave for 'big school', they are ready and able to continue with their life-long journey of learning.

Curriculum
As an Early Years provider, they follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, which has the following learning and development requirements to ensure children are ready for school:Communication and language, Physical development , Personal, social and emotional development. These three prime areas of learning and development are strengthened and applied through: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world, Expressive arts and design. Within this framework, we provide a rich learning environment with a combination of teacher-led and child-initiated activities, and there is a high emphasis on learning through play. Children are observed and regularly assessed on the progress they are making so that progressive learning steps can be set.
