Cobham Montessori School is Independent Primary school in Surrey for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Cobham Montessori School is an independent school situated close to the centre of Cobham. We serve 35 children (and their families) from 2 to 11 years, in the tradition of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). Our purpose is to aid each child's natural development through their preschool and primary school years. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian physician and educator who founded a philosophy of education that builds upon a child's natural path of development. Her lifelong observation of children and scientific study of pedagogy established an approach to learning which emphasises independence, self-directed activity, cooperation and learning in harmony with each child's unique pace of development.

Elementary
This week has been an opportunity for the children to draw work to a close and finish tying up loose ends. With finished work comes presentations to the class and they always love to see the children proudly presenting their work! The collaborative nature of our curriculum means that children really have to engage their communication and negotiation skills to create projects like this. We had a beautiful introduction to life in the stone age, a thorough explanation of the digestive system and a fascinating and innovative journey through the history of paintings. By sharing their hard work with the class other children are informed and inspired to create something of their own; they all ask insightful questions and offer constructive suggestions for improvements; it's such a fantastic way to share knowledge.
Infant Community
This week they have been practising for the sports day and getting the legs ready for running! As one of the animals for the animal race was a fish we spent quite a lot of time practicing our fish impressions and seeing how the fish move in the fish tank.With the weather being so hot we have been playing with water a lot in the garden. The children have been playing with a tub filled with water and various aquatic animals. The creature with the most interest has definitely been the shark

Things to note
Children's House
This week in The Children’s House, there has been much excitement building up to the end of term; talks of holidays and who the children are going to see, where they are going, what they will be doing etc. Of course the focus has been on sports day with the bunting making, the ‘Jackson Pollock’ style of paint techniques to decorate the garden and scrubbing of all the chairs. On the actual day, it was SO lovely after the two year hiatus, due to Covid, to be able to have all of our families to get together and enjoy the event. The weather was kind, the atmosphere was wonderful and we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!
