Embley

Description

Embley is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 2 to 19 (Gender - 2 to 19 )

Embley is an independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 2 to 19, located on the edge of the New Forest near Romsey in Hampshire. Thwy believe that every child is unique and deserves the recognition of that as they grow. They are academically ambitious for the children and motivate them to achieve their personal best. They encourage an appropriate belief in oneself while being mindful that happiness in life is through enriching the lives of others. They expect all our pupils to develop independence, responsibility and a spirit of enquiry from a young age but they cannot foster these ideals without giving our children a meaningful opportunity to practise them. From class representation in student councils the students also lead on national conferences, address national education fora, trade on the London Stock Exchange in our Stock Market Investment Club and develop their economic and business acumen through the MBA Experience in partnership with Winchester University. They also lead award winning sailing, drama and golf programmes and, in co-operation with staff, plan and manage business tendering and projects. The children have the opportunity to be their best and leave us with a character that will inform the rest of their lives.

Features

Things to note

Co-curriculum
The Prep School co-curricular programme contributes towards building an all-round education for the children. Alongside a wide range of traditional sporting opportunities, they offer outdoor adventure activities such as sailing and skiing which build a variety of skills that help children to better understand themselves and test boundaries in a challenging yet safe environment. These experiences help develop confidence and encourage children to evaluate situations and take calculated risks – alongside broadening horizons and making friends. The lunchtime and after school activities cover a range of interests, including sport, music, art, bushcraft and technology. Many activities are run by the teaching staff and we utilise our network of specialist external providers and coaches where appropriate for clubs.

Beyond the classroom
whatever the weather, we always have fun adventures exploring the school’s grounds. The 130 acres of parkland and woodland offer plenty of space for the children to spread their wings and develop a love of nature.Children climb, explore and make mud pies. They grow vegetables, enjoy treasure hunts, go on minibeast safaris, climb trees, build dens, search for wildlife around the pond and explore everything our wonderful environment has to offer. They take the phonics outside and go on letter and word hunts as well as looking for numbers around the grounds as part of the Mathematics lessons.

Sport
They aim to engage and inspire children across all ages and abilities through a wide variety of sporting experiences. We recognise the mental and physical benefits of sport along with the broader life skills and positive behaviours that come from playing and competing. The character qualities required to be successful in sport are essential to academic achievement and life.Sport at Embley helps children grow as individuals; from enthusiastic beginners to those pursuing sporting excellence in an established discipline. And we celebrate every level of achievement across the community, but not at a cost to those who simply want to participate for fun and be part of a team.
