Here at Eversfield Preparatory School they recognise that all children have talents and skills in different areas, academic, sporting, musical, artistic, personality and so I could continue. We aim to give as many opportunities as we can in order that all these varying qualities are developed and nurtured to allow our children to achieve the best they possibly can. There is no plateau of ‘potential’ in a child, once they achieve one level, they can go in pursuit of another.In this respect they aim to provide an education that caters for the different needs of each child. This means tailoring our teaching and learning programmes for particular groups of children and individuals so that we extend and stretch the needs of the more able, promote the learning of the able and support and guide the less able.Through continual assessment and a caring approach in our small classes we recognise the capabilities and performance abilities of every child and ensure that work is set to stretch and challenge them in a supportive environment. Children who are achieving at high attainment levels are extended to deepen their understanding, often in a more applied approach or through working on concepts or material at a level above those expected for children of their age. In this way we give them opportunities to expand their faculties and reach targets they are capable of without imposing artificial ceilings.
Facilities
Kindergarten and Nursery (Age 2¾ to 4 years)
Kindergarten and Nursery children are cared for in a warm and welcoming dedicated purpose-built building with its own secure outdoor all-weather play area. As well as the purposeful, engaging activities that take place in the Nursery itself, our children benefit from integration with the whole of the school with frequent access to specialist facilities and teaching such as singing, dance, PE, swimming and visits to our woodland area.The dedicated team, led by experienced teachers, deliver an engaging curriculum and work closely with the children to help them to feel happy and confident. From time to time, your child will bring home an activity to share with you. This may include letter sounds, library books, name cards or letter formation sheets. Children are also encouraged to bring items from home to school to share, or feature on the colour table or the sound table.
Reception (Age 4 to 5 years)
From the moment they join Reception, children are supported and encouraged to build a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge: they experience the joy of learning something new.The two Reception classes consist of children who have progressed from our Nursery, and we welcome a number of other children who are new to Eversfield and join us at this stage. Small class sizes feature throughout the school but, with a maximum of 20 children, we also value class sizes that are large enough to support a range of friendships and spark discussion.
Middle School (Forms 1 to Forms 3)
The expert teaching staff are all highly experienced with the very specific needs of children as they continue their individual learning journey in Middle School.The warm and welcoming department is housed in two dedicated self-contained buildings with its own classrooms and facilities for pupils in Forms 1, 2 and 3. Horizons are expanded as they are introduced to a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum, and benefit from all the specialist teaching facilities of the Upper School. Academic success is prized but so is having fun while learning.
Upper School (Forms 4 to Forms 6)
Upper School is all about the joy of expanding horizons and discovery of interests, passions and talents. Children are challenged, stimulated and have the opportunity to experience more significant leadership roles.Lessons are taught by our team of talented subject specialists, enabling a greater depth of study. Personalised ability-based setting is introduced for Maths and English, and the broad curriculum continues with pupils being offered the opportunity to represent the school in sport in some way. Independence is encouraged and a wider range of trips is included to stimulate learning and help pupils become more spiritually, culturally and morally aware.

Extra-Curricular and Performing Arts
Co-curricular activities are vital in the holistic education of our children and we encourage everyone to participate. There is a rich variety of clubs on offer which will enable them to extend their social circle, as well as provide opportunity to develop intellectual, creative and physical skills both inside and outside the classroom.The choice of over 45 lunchtime and after school clubs and activities available includes choirs, chess, speech and drama, creative arts, dance, musical ensembles, STEM clubs and multiple sports disciplines.
Music
Music plays an important role at Eversfield. All children from Kindergarten to Form 6 enjoy a weekly music lesson with the Director of Music in our purpose-built acoustic music studio. In addition, over 140 individual music lessons take place every week on a range of instruments including brass, woodwind, string and percussion, and children have the opportunity to join one of our three school choirs, or one of the many ensembles.
