Description

Ruckleigh School is Independent Primary school in Solihull for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Ruckleigh is a magical place, where academics, imagination, and fun combine to create a truly unique educational environment. Set in the heart of Solihull, at Ruckleigh we seek to marry the academic rigour of a city prep, with the freedom and simple joy of a country one.The School is, of course, equipped throughout with the latest teaching tools. But what makes Ruckleigh unique is its people. We are fortunate in our outstanding staff but also in our lively, interested and compassionate pupils. The school itself is surrounded by a hidden garden with ancient trees, which lend an almost Narnian magic to break times and are supplemented by play areas aplenty.

Facilities

Nursery
Nursery is a huge step for any three year old and a milestone in advancing a child’s independence and aiding them to discover more about the world around them. Structured learning provides opportunities to boost personal, physical and social development as children are challenged to start making decisions for themselves and think about the reasons for their choices.Care is taken to create a very happy, secure and stimulating indoor and outdoor environment for pupils –providing a warm atmosphere where children can evolve their communication and language skills, form and learn from new friendships and foster their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.

Kindergarten
It’s a landmark moment for most parents when they see their child in formal school uniform and entering Kindergarten’s doors for the first time. Continuing to follow the Seven Areas of Learning criteria, Kindergarten’s pupils are introduced to a more structured full-day of formal education, mixed with free-play that is aimed at extending knowledge, understanding and self confidence. Lessons take place individually or in small groups and are focussed upon hands-on experience, worksheets and opportunities to work on the classroom’s interactive touchscreen.

Lower School
Each year group within Lower School is split into two classes with a guarantee of no more than 18 pupils. Each class has a form teacher who is primarily concerned with teaching children maths, English and generalsubjects such as history, geography, religious education and art. Specialist teachers are introduced at thisstage to extend the subject-based curriculum in science, computing, music, speech and drama and modern languages.

Middle School
As pupils move into Middle School their personal and social development remain the cornerstones of the support and guidance provided by the school as children build upon their progressive ladder of skills.Inevitably pupils’ workload and responsibilities will increase as transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 work begins and their academic progress is closely monitored. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning are added to the curriculum introducing children to the skills and preparation required for the 11+ examination process.

Upper School
Specialist teaching combines with the best mix of traditional and innovative methods to ensure pupils increase their levels of independence and responsibility and are carefully and thoroughly prepared for their 11+ entrance examinations.Anticipating the demands pupils will face in secondary school, problem solving, reasoning skills, revision aids and developing efficient use of study time are prioritised to ensure that Ruckleigh pupils have an assured examination technique and the maturity required to thrive when they move onto the school of their choice. Active participation activities such as debates, a school production and a road safety course provide greater breadth and develop confidence and motivation.
