Description

Godstowe Preparatory School is a thriving Prep School for girls aged 7-13, approximately a third of whom are boarders. They also have a lovely Pre-Prep and Nursery for girls and boys aged 3 to 7. 

Facilities

Sport: Purpose-built facilities including a new 25m Indoor Swimming Pool, a Sports Hall with a Dance Studio, four floodlit Netball courts / Tennis courts, a Floodlit Lacrosse pitch / Athletics field.The full sized, multi-purpose, indoor sports hall allows for tennis, four badminton courts, netball, basketball and indoor hockey. It is also used for gymnastics, indoor lacrosse, indoor high jump and Lodge gym, to name a few. Upstairs there is a dance/ballet studio, a function room, kitchen facilities and a double balcony looking in and out to the lacrosse field. 

Music: Music School includes two large classrooms; one fully equipped with keyboards, computers and a clavinova, the other housing another clavinova and a wide range of classroom percussion and ethnic musical instruments. There are 12 practice rooms, each with a piano. Two of these can be used for small ensemble rehearsals and two others are used for larger ensembles. The department has a large catalogue of instrumental music, chamber and orchestral music, CDs and some orchestral instruments which are available for beginners to loan.    

JK Theatre: They have a purpose-built theatre fitted with modular staging, lighting, sound equipment and surround-sound. As well as termly productions, the JK Theatre is used for concerts, after-school clubs, art exhibitions, assemblies and parents' evenings.

  • All classes from Reception to Year 8 have four PE lessons a week, taught by PE specialists. The curriculum includes Swimming, Gymnastics, Dance, Netball, Lacrosse, Athletics, Tennis, Cricket and Fitness. The main team sports at Godstowe are Netball, Lacrosse, Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics and Tennis. Other teams include Gymnastics, Rounders and Cricket.
  • Pupils throughout the School have structured Computing and ICT lessons where they learn the skills necessary not only to understand but to enjoy using today's technology. In addition, ICT is increasingly used to support the teaching in other curriculum areas, from maths to music.
  • Godstowe’s Library is centrally located next to Reception. It can seat 26 girls and features a cosy corner where girls can curl up on a beanbag and read. It contains more than 8,000 books, and a set of Chromebooks for internet access.
  • School trips at Godstowe are an integral and very important aspect of both academic and personal development programme. Trips and visits provide fantastic opportunities for personal and social education outside of the classroom and they are also great fun!
