Features

Things to note

Beyond the Curriculum
Greenbank takes immense pride in the sheer diversity of its extra-curricular provision. In addition to the broad and balanced curriculum, the range of activities they offer enables all pupils to pursue their talents and interests. Activities are held at lunchtime or after school. The clubs are open to all, however, some have limited numbers due to their practical nature and rotas are in place so all children will have the opportunity to participate at some point in the year.

Art
At Greenbank school they recognise the importance of nurturing creativity within our pupils. They are proud to be able to showcase our children’s work around the school for all to see. They encourage the children to use their imagination and think creatively. This allows them to express their ideas and record their experiences through a range of different media, including sketching, painting, drawing, textiles, printmaking and clay. Children will also have time to look at the work of a variety of artists and designers of different movements and media. They also study artwork produced by different cultures and use the Internet for research. The artwork produced is often inspired by their topic work and cross-curricular links are planned, to enrich the pupils’ learning in other subject areas

Sport at Greenbank Preparatory School
Greenbank believes that Sport is a fundamental part of the school week and should be a positive experience for all our children. Children who participate in sport demonstrate a healthy lifestyle, build self-esteem and confidence.  Sport can motivate children to excel academically plus builds social skills. Greenbank competes in a number of sports against many local and other independent schools. schools including hockey, rugby, TAG rugby, dance, water polo, basketball and gymnastics. Interschool House matches are played each term so that all children experience playing for a team and competing in sporting events.

Music
Music is recognised as a very important element of school life, both in aspects of the curriculum and the many and varied extra-curricular activities. The pupils’ musical achievements are celebrated in a full programme of concerts each year, giving opportunities for pupils to develop their confidence in small, informal gatherings or as a showcase for the more advanced students. The children enjoy their music, and many take part in extra-curricular activities or choose to learn an instrument. Over 80% of children sing in a choir and over 50% of the Junior Department learn an instrument.
