Harris Primary Academy Coleraine Park is a State Primary school for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed).

Facilities

The curriculum has been designed to ensure comprehensive coverage of the National Curriculum. They use the National Curriculum as a starting point rather than a limit to what they cover in each subject. They build on the work of external experts for the phonics and mathematics teaching. All other subjects are taught using our in-house plans and progression. Each subject is taught discretely and weekly to support children in remembering the key knowledge and skills they need to fulfil the intent.Reading is at the heart of everything we do at Coleraine Park, as they recognise that excellent reading skills unlock the possibilities of the rest of the curriculum for the children. They have specialist teaching for Art and Design, Design Technology, PE and Steel Pans (which forms part of the music curriculum).

At the Academy they believe that all students have learning differences rather than learning difficulties and it is their policy to identify and assess these differences and ensure that learning is supported and differentiated to ensure outstanding progress is made by all students. They offer a range of support to develop teachers expertise and additional support within the classroom, this includes; drop-in sessions, in class training and observations from the SENCO, as well as specialist advice/input within the classroom. They also have a learning resource base in the Academy where students can access specialist intervention as appropriate.
