Highsted Rd, Sittingbourne ME10 4PT, United Kingdom
11-18 Years

Description

Highsted Grammar School is leading State Secondary school in Sittingbourne. This is a Selective school for kids age 11 to 18 years. Gender - Girls

Highsted is a happy and cohesive community and an environment which liberates young women to take the risks and embrace the challenges that will prepare them for their future roles and responsibilities as leaders in tomorrow’s society. The success is as a consequence of striking a fine balance between tradition and innovation. The values are traditional ones and they offer an unashamedly academic curriculum. They are keenly aware, however, that we are preparing our students for a working life none of them can yet anticipate.  The focus, therefore, is on developing the skills, attributes and habits of mind that will equip our young women as life-long learners. The aim is to launch them into the world as self-starters, focused but flexible, armed with the courage to grasp opportunities and the resilience and humour to negotiate setbacks along the way.

Curriculum
Here at Highsted, they have a very serious, very clear, very simple purpose - to provide the very best education possible. They also aim to make learning fun! Highsted students pursue an ambitious seven-year curriculum journey. In Years 7–9, students study a broad and balanced key stage three curriculum covering 15 subject areas. The key stage four curriculum prepares students for their GCSE examinations, while students in the Sixth Form study a full programme of four A-levels and an Extended Project Qualification.A comprehensive personal development curriculum complements the academic curriculum, including a structured programme of relationships and sex education to support the students’ physical and mental wellbeing and careers guidance to ensure they have the knowledge to make informed choices about their future.

Super-Curriculum
At Highsted Grammar School, they are keen for our students to develop a passion for their learning that encourages them to be curious about their subjects. We believe that this passion should not be restricted to the classroom but broadened into their everyday lives. They want you to delve deeper into the subjects that you enjoy most and tackle activities which will enhance your normal curriculum studies.  As such, please look through the Super Curriculum ideas for your favourite subjects and pick some activities to continue your learning journey at home.
