Ensuring the well-being of our pupils is of paramount importance in the face of the pressures of modern society. They pursue this through dedicated and compassionate pastoral care. The relatively small size means that every child is known and valued as an individual. They are a diverse school community where inclusion of and respect for all is central. The pupils develop a sense of belonging and pride in their school. They have the highest expectations of the pupils.  They encourage them to aspire to excellence and achieve the very best they can.  The small class sizes allow for high levels of individual attention and personalised support. The broad and varied curriculum, together with a blend of traditional and innovative teaching approaches, ensures that pupils also enjoy learning for its own sake.

Facilities

Pre-School & Juniors
At Hipperholme Grammar School, they understand that giving your child the best possible start in life is the greatest investment you can make. They offer a unique learning experience, with small class sizes, traditional values and excellent teaching. The classrooms are vibrant and welcoming – an environment suited to our individual approach to education. Here they focus on the specific capabilities of each pupil, nurturing their own talents and helping them to reach their full potential. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes the children feel valued, cared for and happy.

Pre-School: Nursery & Reception
The Nursery class offers excellent education and care in our bright, stimulating and ever evolving setting. The children are happy and engaged, they love to come to school, they learn and grow in confidence in this warm and caring environment. The children access learning through play and have access to excellent provision both indoor and outdoors. They ensure supportive, individual attention by having a small nursery class. Research has proved that young children are more receptive earlier in the day and with this in mind, mornings in the Nursery focus on structured activities to promote literacy, numeracy and creative thinking with afternoons dedicated to activities where children enjoy child-initiated learning.

Seniors
The Senior School provides an outstanding academic education whilst also offering a vast array of extra-curricular activities alongside the appropriate level of pastoral care for every individual. The small numbers enable staff to truly understand the needs of every pupil and support them with their needs and their interests. The pages within this website give only a flavour of the School and they would urge parents to visit the School in order to experience our nurturing and academically outstanding provision first-hand.

Junior Extra Curricular Activities
At Hipperholme Grammar Junior School we recognise that children need plenty of exercise and value the benefits that this can have in so many other areas.  The pupils enjoy a level of physical activity that well exceeds the national average and suitably complements our Healthy Schools programme. The all-inclusive policy enables every child, regardless of ability or age, to take part in and enjoy all elements of sports and outdoor activities.  All have the opportunity to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle through positive, enriching experiences. The PE and sports curriculum at Hipperholme Grammar Junior School is taught by our own specialist sports coach who develops skills and techniques in all the different disciplines.   All children from the age of 3 to 11 years old enjoy developing basic skills in a variety of disciplines.  The younger children enjoy developing their skills through a variety of sports activities including football, hockey, gymnastics and dance, orienteering, rounders and cross country.  The traditional sports of rugby, football, netball, athletics and cricket are also taught and children in KS2 regularly enjoy friendly and competitive fixtures with both independent and state schools in the area.

Extra Curricular Activities
Life at Hipperholme Grammar School is much more than what happens during school hours. We offer many extra-curricular activities which all help to play a big part in the personal development of the pupils. From the regular school trips abroad through to the Duke of Edinburgh Award, sports teams and music clubs, all the activities are well subscribed and they even encourage our pupils to start their own after-school clubs and societies. Every year our new Year 7 forms visit Buckden House in North Yorkshire very early on in their Senior School career for caving, high ropes and the opportunity to get to know their new friends. The annual ski trip has been running since 1986 and continues to be a popular event for students across the School.
