Curriculum
They aim to provide an ambitious, innovative and stimulating curriculum for all. High academic attainment and the development of widely-educated, confident and responsible young people are the twin aims of our curriculum. It is tailored to be academically challenging for the able cohorts of students, the vast majority of whom study A Levels before beginning university degrees or degree-level apprenticeships. The students follow a balanced academic curriculum with the English Baccalaureate at its heart. They prioritise student choice to give each individual the opportunity to proceed to destinations that meet their interests and aspirations. This results in a broad curriculum and smaller examination set sizes than is typical in state schools nationally.
Extra-Curricular
K.E.S. is proud of the vast array of extra curricular activities that are available to our students. This extensive extra-curricular provision is something that distinguishes K.E.S. from many other schools and supports the School’s ethos that education extends well beyond the classroom. Sport is outstanding with a major fixtures programme. There are regular concerts and drama productions and individual tuition is available on a wide range of instruments. First class facilities and expert coaching ensure that the sports teams, instrumental and drama ensembles frequently enjoy success and audience acclaim both regionally and nationally. The students undertake a variety of overseas tours and expeditions.
