Description

Lewis Charlton Learning Centre is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 11 to 19 (Gender - 11 to 19). At Lewis Charlton the focus is on empowering students to realise their personal and social potential by presenting curricular opportunities and community responsibilities in a manner that enables individuals to understand that their experiences are relevant, their feelings validated and their contribution meaningful. 

Facilities

The curriculum at Lewis Charlton has been carefully developed to both address the emotional and social needs of students and to fulfil the requirements of the national curriculum. They firmly believe that all students should have access to a fully inclusive curriculum offer. By personalising the learning experience for all students, they provide an opportunity for them to be more fully engaged in making progress and in taking ownership of the process. In line with best practice, all students are assessed on point of entry, which provides Lewis Charlton with a nationally recognised ‘predicted grade’ for each student. From this point onwards, they rigorously track each student’s progress on a weekly basis while they attend with them. Educational performance is additionally measured at Key Stage 3 & 4 by external accreditation e.g. A.Q.A Unit Awards, Entry Level, BTEC and G.C.S.E examinations. Teaching staff comprise of subject specialists for each area of the National Curriculum.

As part of wider ‘offer’ to students, they appreciate that students benefit enormously from opportunities to enrich their everyday experiences. Therefore, they actively build enrichment into the academic year. The focus is to give opportunities to develop social skills, promote resilience and develop team building, which are all integral parts of wider SMSC and PSHE curriculum.

At the heart of Lewis Charlton Learning Centres is a unique blend of therapeutic care and bespoke educational solutions for up to 57 secondary-aged students. With years of experience, they have a recognised track record of providing a highly effective placements for all students. Quite simply, they are dedicated to transforming young lives. For those students who have experienced difficulties within both mainstream and other special education provisions, they are here to provide solutions.

Admission Details

Admissions at its heart, admissions procedure is central to the success of provision. They purposefully take a great deal of time to ensure that they provide a perfectly tailored placement for all students. Following initial assessments of new referrals by dedicated, in-house educational and therapeutic teams, Lewis Charlton, then work in close consultation with all stakeholders: families, students, carers and LAs. They are relentless in commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for students.
