Admission Details

Lord’s School offers the potential of a continual learning experience from primary to GCSE level. However, pupils can join at various levels. This admissions policy reinforces the educational vision upon which Lord’s School has been established. The school will be inclusive, will meet the individual needs of all learners and will be based on the tenets and beliefs of all faiths. It will, through its admissions, promote understanding among students, parents and guardians.

Application: Once your application is made, children, parents and guardians will generally be invited to attend the school for a meeting with the head teacher and a tour of the school.

Special Educational Needs: The admission and review of students with an EHCP or a statement of special educational needs is dealt with by a completely separate procedure involving parents, schools, the LA and a range of professionals. This procedure is integral to the making and maintaining of a compliant EHCP (or statement) by the student’s home Local Authority. Details of this separate procedure are set out in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. They consider all children for admission to the school who have the ability and aptitude to access an academic curriculum. Pupils whose SEND are suited to the curriculum are welcome provided that they have the appropriate resources and facilities to offer them the support they require. Subject to this, the School will be sensitive to any requests for confidentiality. The School will arrange special early admissions meetings with parents of disabled prospective pupils to discuss special arrangements.

Before a place is offered at the School: They ask parents and guardians that they disclose to the School any known or suspected circumstances relating to their child’s health, development, allergies, disabilities and learning difficulties. Based on such disclosure, the School will confirm whether or not it can fully meet the needs of the child. Where a child’s SEND is identified, or develops, after the child has started at the School, they will endeavour to continue support the child as long as they have the appropriate resources and facilities to provide them with the support they require, they believe it is in the best interest of the child and of the School community for them to remain at Lord’s School. The class teacher and/or classroom assistant supports the individual child. Each staff is specialised in their respective subjects. They provide a range of opportunities for children to engage in speaking and listening activities in English with peers and adults. Differentiation of texts and materials that suit the child’s age is used to encourage learning. Support is also provided through ICT and audio materials.
