Admission Details

More House School has a comprehensive admissions process which ensures that all parties involved are fully informed. We follow the process carefully, step by step, and are not able to miss out any part of the process. This is in the best interests of the child involved.

The process starts with parents learning more about the school and fully understanding the nature of our educational offering. Our website provides a comprehensive overview of the mission, ethos and learning environment at More House. Additionally, we have Open Mornings and Information Sessions in the Michaelmas and Lent Terms where families can tour the school and meet both staff and pupils.  You are also welcome to call and have a chat with our Admissions Team at if you have specific questions.

  • If you decide to formally commence the Admissions Process, the first step is to complete the Registration Form (please click on the link in the blue block to be taken to the form).   Please be aware that a £75 registration fee is payable upon submission and is a compulsory part of the registration process.  (NB failure to make this payment will stop your application moving forward  and all content will be deleted in line with GDPR).
  •  Successful completion of  Step 1 means that you will hear from a member of our Admissions Team over the coming weeks, to arrange a telephone appointment for a detailed conversation with you about your son.  This second step in the process will give parents the opportunity to provide a detailed view of their child’s strengths and those areas which will need support and scaffolding.  During the call, our Team will explain about the More House offering in more detail, and in the context of your child’s specific needs.

  • Following the telephone consultation, if the Admissions Team believes that More House School can provide a suitable learning environment, Step 3 is all about submitting reports. Recent school reports and reports by other professionals who may have assessed your child will be required and, if your son is the subject of an Education, Health and Care plan (EHC plan) then this will also be requested for submission.

  • The next step in the process is report reading by our team of professionals – the More House School Assessment Team –to determine whether it is felt that MHS can provide the best learning environment for your child.  If the outcome is positive, you and your son will be invited to tour the school.  After the tour, you will meet with the Headmaster, while your child attends a short assessment session with our Director of Assessment and Therapy.

  • Following this visit, if the decision is taken to move the application to the next stage of the process, a member of the Admissions Team will contact you to arrange an assessment/taster visit. This is usually a two or three-day visit, which will give your son a chance to experience school life at More House. The visit will include an informal Speech and Language assessment and an Occupational Therapy assessment, conducted by our specialist staff.

  • After the assessment visit, our team of school professionals will decide whether More House School is an appropriate placement for your son. If it is, you will receive a formal offer from the Headmaster.  Parents then have 14 days from receipt to accept the place by completing the Confirmation of Acceptance, submitting the Form of Entry and remitting the £250 acceptance fee.
