Nicol Mere is a happy and vibrant school where children come first. They have a highly motivated and committed team of staff and governors who ensure that every child is nurtured and supported on their very own aspirational learning journey. They have built and teach an engaging, broad and balanced curriculum with exciting learning experiences and opportunities that stimulate and deepen the children’s understanding. They intend to prepare our children socially, spiritually and academically, so that when they leave them, they have a lifelong love of learning, are prepared for the next step in their learning journey and take the School Values into the wider world.
Curriculum
At Nicol Mere, having high standards and supporting the children to reach their full academic potential is extremely important; however, we also believe that learning is so much more than attainment: it is a myriad of attitudes, emotions, beliefs and skills. Learning new skills and participating in new experiences benefits our children. It not only helps them to develop confidence and social skills from a young age, but is critical as our children’s brains are developing so rapidly at this age. Research shows that learning art, music and other enrichment skills can help children excel in many ways. They have a variety of different clubs and opportunities for all our children to participate in and enjoy. Some of these include: Football, Self Defence, Choir, Performing Arts and Dance, Sewing, Computing, Science, Multi-Sports

At Nicol Mere, they have a range of fun and age-appropriate after-school clubs on offer to you. Throughout the year, these include: Football, Self defence, Multi-sports, Rugby, Cricket, Performing arts with dance , Sewing,Computing, Science, Choir. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Nicol Mere school, they are fully supportive of inclusion and strive to ensure that all our pupils progress to their full potential, enjoying appropriate challenges and the achievement of success. Quality first teaching is vital; however for some children, there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them achieve their targets. This includes children with; Cognitive and Learning needs, Communication and Interaction difficulties, Sensory and /or Physical needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (as identified in the SEND Code of Practice 2015). We are aware that some pupils have needs that span across the categories and teachers will then be aware of both the child’s primary need and subsequent needs.
