Education
At Oakfield our fundamental principles solely surround the holistic value of each child. They believe that in order for any of the children to thrive and progress in a positive and vibrant manner they must feel safe, secure and ready to learn. They provide nurturing classes that focus on the individual child and develop positive trusting relationships.Once the children are settled and regulated within the school environment, they endeavour to provide creative experiences through a broad, varied and enriched curriculum tailored to their particular needs. They follow the National Curriculum and its programme of study. They make the lessons as interesting and hands on as possible to engage previous reluctant learners. They consider pupils’ interests and we listen to pupil voice and promote individuals’ aspirations through sessions with the Personal Development Co-ordinator. They develop targets for each individual pupil towards their aspirations and this is embedded into school life.
Facilities
Oakfield House School is set in 8 acres of landscape gardens that include their own woodland trails through our orchards and vegetable patches. The pupils enjoy exploring the mini beast and wildlife that grows within the pond and wooded areas. This links nicely with the forest school approach. They are currently developing the own Forest School with 2 fully trained forest school leaders on site. This will allow us to offer the children opportunities to develop a range of skills using our grounds, including tool use, plant identification and den building. All the activities will be designed to help the learners develop their resilience while taking calculated risks in a safe environment. We also have an outdoor sports area, a multi-use games area (MUGA) and outdoor play equipment.
Beyond the Classroom
At Oakfield we believe that every opportunity should be given to children to practice what they have learned in real life situations and settings. They have regular trips and encourage our children to take an active part in our local community. They work to promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development considering how school can support the pupil and what targets they need to meet to achieve their goal. They have been using Youth Voice to identify what aspects of school can be better for each pupil and develop plans to successfully enhance pupils experience in school.
Sensory Room

They aim to make any transition into the school as smooth and easy for your child as possible. Moving school can be a daunting experience for children and is often a time when families may also feel very anxious about any future moves. However, experience shows that if both the parents’ and the child’s individual concerns are taken seriously and all parties understand what actions are to be taken, then the transition to a new school should go well. They are always here if you wish to speak to them or discuss any concern you may have.
