Our Lady's Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Wokingham for kids aged 0 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

The Roman Catholic foundation ensures that we work to animate the potential of all our pupils, from the lively and welcoming Nursery through to the highly successful Preparatory School. PRE-SCHOOL
Children usually join Pre-School directly after their third birthday. In Pre-School they are committed to helping all pupils continue with the next stage of their development. Children at this age are enthusiastic learners and it is our privilege to support their next steps towards mainstream education. In particular, our fully qualified teachers work with the nursery staff to offer a diverse mix of play and learning opportunities.
NURSERY
A caring home from home environment for children from 3 months of age. Providing a safe and happy nursery environment for your child is as important to us as it is to you. Therefore, our supportive team are here to ensure your child receives individual care and a mix of learning, play and rest time to help them thrive in their earliest years. The ethos is one of caring integration. Whilst all nursery children benefit from dedicated facilities, we ensure they have a chance to mix with other age groups. For example, Nursery children attend assemblies and also watch the older children take part in school plays and concerts. We also have ‘dress-up days’ which help children to stretch their imaginations, and everyone in the School and Nursery enjoys the chance to get involved.
RECEPTION
They welcome children into Reception in the September after their fourth birthday. A full-time class held during term time only, Reception is a wonderfully varied and exciting introduction to the main School. From Reception onwards, children are placed in one of three houses and earn points for academic success, demonstrating good behaviour and manners. This encourages cross year teamwork and helps children to collaborate on pursuing common goals.
PRE-PREP
Children move into Pre-Prep from 5 years old (Infant I and II). By this stage they are familiar with phonics and most will be starting to read. Building on what the children have learned in Reception, Pre-Prep introduces more structured learning and a broader range of curriculum subjects. Children are also encouraged to take on roles of responsibility, such as art or classroom monitor, and to get involved in school plays, trips and Forest School.

Things to note
MUSIC
There is the opportunity for children to take up private music lessons, as an individual or small group, through our specialist music teacher. And of course, our musicians have the chance to practice their performance skills at school events in front of other pupils, teachers and parents.
FOOTBALL
Run by Mr McKay, Director of Sport, the Football Club is popular with both boys and girls helping them to learn the rules and skills of the ‘beautiful game’. Football helps children to improve coordination, provides a sense of camaraderie and also helps them learn tactics and strategy. Children play against each other in teams, and whilst there are great rivalries, everyone has fun in the process.
FILM CLUB
Taking place after school on Friday each week, Film Club gives children the chance to vote for one of three films, and the most popular film is screened. Children are split into two groups; Reception/Pre-Prep and Prep. Reception and Pre-Prep watch Certificate U films and parents of Prep children sign a permission slip at the beginning of the year which permits us to screen PG films.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
Often some of the happiest school memories are the after school clubs and activities we were involved in. This is a time for pupils to mix socially with other children from across the school and helps develop interests in sports and activities.
