At Paradise Primary School the teaching of phonics is highly prioritised and is taught every day. A synthetic phonics approach is adopted through the ‘Letters and Sounds’ programme and Jolly phonics actions are used to support the children’s memory. Letters & Sounds’ is the government programme for teaching phonics and high frequency words.Synthetic phonics is the process of sounding out the individual sounds in an unknown word and then blending these sounds together to read the word. The scheme teaches the sounds in an order which allows them to quickly begin to put sounds together to read words.

Extra Curricular Activities
The school has many extra curricular activities. Students can join the clubs and enhance there skills.
Remote Learning
As much as possible the normal curriculum will be delivered, where some adaptations are needed, for example in subjects such as computing or PE the teacher will adapt. Any students who do not have access to a device will be able to loan one from the school. Students have weekly mental maths, spelling tests. They are also given weekly quizzes which are set through Microsoft Forms. Feedback sheets are provided for students to self-assess. During the end of the week a task is set by the teacher on teams which is then marked. Home learning books have been provided and parents drop these off, teachers then mark.
