At Queens’ they recognise that the learning that happens outside the classroom is as important as that which takes place within. All students have access to a wide range of opportunities. Extracurricular activities are therefore an essential part of the educational experience at Queens’ and there is very much an expectation of participation.
Sporting facilities are second to none and they therefore have an extensive all year round out of hours sporting curriculum. Extra-curricular sport is enjoyed by a large number of students in a wide variety of sports including rugby, netball, football, hockey, athletics, rounders, cricket, basketball and tennis.
Students enjoy taking part in concerts and theatrical performances, visiting places of interest and participating in residential trips, including foreign expeditions. Queens’ benefits from an increasing number of international links with partner schools in Taiwan and Zambia. Exchanges allows students to broaden their horizons learn about different cultures and create global links and opportunities.
Students are keen to participate in the running and development of the school. They have the opportunity to represent their peers through the elected School Council, play a part in the staff recruitment process and take on various student leadership roles.
Queens’ offers the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level. The programme is a real adventure, a once in a lifetime opportunity to ‘do something different’.
The Combined Cadet Force is regularly praised for providing our cadets with a wide range of challenging activities which test pupils’ practical skills, promotes resilience, responsibility and leadership
Queens’ School is a mixed comprehensive school in Bushey for children aged 11-18. The school has a strong academic tradition in all areas of the curriculum with an additional focus on science and sport. The school will endeavour to allocate places to students whose parents wish them to attend Queens’ School, provided they can be accommodated within the school’s admission limits on pupil numbers. There can be no guarantee that such a place will be available. Applications received after 31st October will be considered after all those which met the deadline.
If there are fewer applications than places available, the school will allocate places to all who have applied. If the school receives more applications than it has places available, places will be allocated under the oversubscription criteria rules. These will be applied in the order in which they are printed below. A panel from the Governors’ Admissions Committee may be formed to determine whether evidence provided meets the relevant criteria. Children with an EHC (Education, Health and Care) Plan that names the school must be admitted and will count towards the admission numbers.
