Description

St Matthew's Church of England Primary School, Wimbledon is a State Primary school for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed). The school and nursery will be closed to all pupils on 1st February due to strike action taken by the National Education Union (NEU). This is also likely to be the case on the following dates: March 2nd, 15th, and 16th.St Matthew’s is a small school with limited staff.  As a result of this, they have only been able to invite in a small number of children on the strike days. School governors have been consulted and Merton LA has been notified of this decision.Building upon the very good foundations laid in the homes of the children, they work in partnership with parents so that pupils leave the school as happy, confident, healthy and responsible young people with a highly developed sense of duty.

Facilities

  • Early Years and Foundation Stage: In the foundation stage, which covers Nursery and Reception we follow Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, This splits the curriculum into seven equally important areas of learning. The Early Learning Goals within each Area of Learning outline what most children should be able to achieve by the time they leave Reception at the age of 5.
  • Year 3: In Year 3 the children spend three days at New Barn in the beautiful Dorset countryside. They have an action packed time, doing everything from pottery workshops and orienteering to wildlife walks and spending a morning in an Iron Age roundhouse, learning more about how people lived. The children grow up so much during this first school trip away from home, and always come back bursting with everything they have done.
