Description

The Beeches School is a specialist academic and therapeutic provision in a peaceful, rural setting, for young people aged 11-16 with additional social, emotional and mental health needs.

Facilities

The facilities include an art, design and technology workshop, a fully equipped science laboratory, a drama studio and an ICT and digital media suite. Students also have access to an on-site ‘Independent Living’ kitchen and a range of off-site sports facilities, including a nearby leisure centre and swimming pool.

Things to note

  • When all learning is carried out from behind a screen or sat at a desk it can be damaging, so outdoor programmes aim to encourage students to get back out into nature. The facilitators talk to students about the importance of the outdoors and encourage them to spend more time even in their own back gardens or local parks during their leisure time. There is a wealth of psychological evidence to demonstrate how wonderfully beneficial this is for mental health.
  • The outdoor education activities provide an alternative way to learn that also helps the next generation develop a strong relationship with nature and concern for the environment, all while keeping fit and healthy. The outdoors is a classroom like no other.

Admission Details

Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make for them. That’s why they involve your whole family in every step of the process of obtaining a placement at one of our schools. They work in partnership with you and your local authority to give your child the best possible chance of being offered provision from the service that will best meet their needs. The first step is to complete referral form or send an email directly to the referrals team at [email protected] attaching the latest version of your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). All information you send will be treated as confidential and saved/shared in line with GDPR guidance. Once they have received your initial enquiry, they will get back to you within one working day. They operate an open-door policy and encourage you to speak about any concerns or queries you may have.
