Description

The Green Room School, Kingsley (GRK) is an Outstanding Independent Day School, catering for children and young people from 11-18 years with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). The school is situated on Old Park Farm near the village of Kingsley in Hampshire. They have a fantastic environment which enables to deliver an exciting and diverse curriculum to each and every child. The bungalow school house and new modular school building, which houses a purpose built science lab, are complimented by an arctic cabin, sport/trade skills barn, allotment, polytunnel and lots and lots of animals.

Facilities

The Green Room Kingsley benefits highly from its location on a farm, where they can utilise the access to the animals daily. They have use of a large field, sand school and the local common, where they offer many different activities including team building, strategy games and some more well known sports. They have allotments and are building a therapy pond which the pupils use during lessons and can have access to in their own time. They are also fortunate enough to be able to offer horse riding as part of the children's curriculum. They have also built links with the local community to have access to a gym, golf driving range and swimming pool. They regularly take the opportunity to take the pupils out on trips such as camping, social development activities and reward trips. They are also the hosts of the annual Green Room Festival, where they celebrate the year and bring the pupils from all 3 schools together.

At GRK they utilise individual EHCPs as a springboard to explore the right techniques, qualifications and therapy options to best suit the individual needs of each pupil; whether this be for specific learning difficulties or emotional and behavioural support. They continuously work alongside families and actively collaborate and seek out additional professional and outside agency support required to meet the individual needs of pupils. GRK is an outstanding school that uses its surroundings and staff to great effect.
