The Henslow and Evolution School is Independent Secondary school in Not applicable for kids aged 5 to 18 (Gender - 5 to 18 )

The Evolution and Henslow School is a New Reflexions independent, day, Primary and Secondary school for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Whilst the parent company, New Reflexions, provides an integrated service of care, education and therapy, the Evolution and Henslow School also accepts students from other care companies, foster placements and from LEA’s.At the primary provision, we offer tailored educational programmes to meet children’s needs, combining core English and Maths skills with access to a broad and balanced curriculum taught through a topic style approach. Literacy is given the highest priority along with ensuring children get a chance to access the activities that help develop their self esteem and confidence.

CURRICULUM
The school approach to curriculum is to focus on preparing our children for the best they can be and that means focussing on progress from their starting points and achieving success, whatever that means for each child. We aim to offer a broad curriculum that considers the development of the whole person, soft skills are valued as highly as academic skills and practical skills, it’s all about nurturing each child’s interests and finding new ways to engage and motivate them.Functioning in a social world is a complex job and we also hope to develop our student’s understanding in areas such as British Values, particularly in developing respect and tolerance. Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural awareness is also key to enabling our young people to be successful, happy adults.

ENRICHMENT
At the primary school they want to give our students the best possible access to a vibrant and interesting curriculum. This means getting out and about as often as they can, whether that is on local walks or to visitor attractions or bringing in visitors to the school who can share interests and a different perspective. They also encourage the staff to share their interests and talents, whether it's juggling, crocheting or sharing an interest in nature.
