The Mount School York is an exceptional independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3 -18, based in the heart of York. PRE-SCHOOL & EARLY YEARS
The Mount’s Early Years setting provides the highest standards of learning and care of girls from three to five years of age. Children flourish in an inspiring and happy environment where having fun and learning go hand in hand. The experienced Early Years Team and Junior School staff work to ensure that all children feel secure and valued as they settle into School. Pupils are encouraged to develop independence and reach their potential through enjoyable activities. They recognise that each child is unique. The activities are planned in response to observing the children’s needs and interests. This highly individualised approach to teaching enables each child to develop at their own pace. By drawing out each child’s natural curiosity and basing the activities on their enthusiasms and interests, they inspire excitement for learning.
JUNIOR SCHOOL
The Mount Junior School offers a genuinely remarkable education to girls. They, at The Mount Junior School, want our girls to make the most of every opportunity, both inside and outside the classroom. While many schools claim their pupils fulfil their potential, they believe our pupils discover potential they did not know they had! CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
Mount girls participate, influence and lead. They do not only enjoy equal opportunities, but every opportunity. Learning at The Mount continues beyond the classroom. Girl have plenty of opportunities to continue their personal development, learn new skills, challenge themselves, build confidence and have fun through our co-curricular opportunities. Whether this is through outdoor learning, after school activities, competing on the sports fields or participating in residential trips Mount girls have plenty of opportunities to experience life beyond the classroom. They believe that co-curricular activities enable the girls to develop interests and skills which will enrich their lives during their time at school and beyond. Through clubs and activities, lifelong friendships and interests are formed. They encourage all of the girls to give everything a go and to develop a ‘can-do attitude.’
ADVENTURE TRIPS
They believe that every girl should experience the world beyond the classroom. As well as enhancing the curriculum and learning, opportunities to explore and travel are an essential part of personal development. Day trips take place for girls of all ages, these include, among many others, trips to museums, galleries, universities and theatres. They take advantage of the wide range of cultural opportunities locally in York and Yorkshire. Theses trips give pupils the chance to put learning into action, and experience first-hand many of the concepts they have covered in the classroom.
