The Robert Ogden School

Description

At Robert Ogden School they provide a caring and friendly environment where your child will be safe and supported. They have a very dedicated staff team who are specialists in working with autistic young people. Within Inclusive Learning Hub also have a highly skilled group of staff who work with those pupils who may have very complex needs and who require a non-confrontational and non-directive approach. These pupils follow a totally individualised curriculum.

School buildings are large and bright. Spaces are low arousal and we have highly trained staff who are responsive to the needs of each individual pupil. As well as taking great pride in the academic achievements of pupils, they are also very committed to making sure they are emotionally secure and confident. They place a great emphasis on preparing our pupils for adulthood and strive to give them portable skills which will be useful in their leisure pursuits and, for some, in employment. Everyone who visits school tells how friendly the atmosphere is.

Admission Details

They offer education to young people aged 5 to 19 (Year 1 - 14) with a diagnosis of autism who have been referred to the school by their local authority. Please be aware that due to the high levels of formal local authority referrals they are receiving, they cannot organise visits for parents/carers of prospective pupils unless they have received a copy of the prospective pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan first. This is because they have a limited number of visit slots and they have to prioritise these slots for prospective pupils where they know they can meet need on paper. These slots are often booked up weeks in advance. Although it is not the way we would like do it, they hope you understand why they have had to take this course of action. Admissions chart is a step-by-step guide to help you through the process of getting your child registered at our school.

Admissions from outside the UK: If you are reading this page from outside the United Kingdom and would like the school to consider admitting a pupil who is currently residing outside the United Kingdom. The National Autistic Society's policy is to only admit pupils to its schools that are financially supported by a United Kingdom Local Authority. In order for this to happen, the pupil has to be resident in the United Kingdom and have recourse to public funds.
