It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the TWGGS website. I hope this will give you a strong sense of the character of our school and an impression that, above all else, pupils come first at TWGGS. Here you will find information on the care and education that you can expect for your daughter and an introduction to the wealth of opportunities that we offer beyond the classroom. TWGGS is a forward-looking school embracing traditional values. We aim to provide pupils with a full and balanced education for life within a caring environment. Our consistent and outstanding academic record demonstrates this but, more importantly, reflects the commitment and qualification of our teachers supported by the hard work and determination of our pupils.

Facilities

Key Stage 3: Years 7 - 9
In Years 7 to 9, pupils are taught a variety of subjects, as well as Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE): Mr Corse, Assistant Headteacher, here outlines how pupils are assessed at TWGGS, including marking of work and feedback to pupils, and the procedures for reporting to parents.

Key Stage 4: Years 10 and 11
At Key Stage 4 we build on the work begun in Key Stage 3 by aiming to provide a balanced curriculum. Pupils study 9 or 10 GCSEs. The core subjects of English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science and one foreign language (Spanish, French or German) are studied; in addition, pupils are required to select either Geography or History. Most pupils sit three separate GCSE Science subjects (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), whilst a small number (approximately 20 annually) sit Double Award Combined Science. Options provide opportunity to choose additional subjects of particular interest, including Art, Computing, Drama, Design Technology, Economics, Music and PE. Pupils can opt to take both Geography and History and can study more than one language. Provision is made for gifted and talented maths pupils in set A1, who follow the AQA Further Maths Level 2 programme in conjunction with their GCSE Mathematics.
