Twycross House School was founded in 1977 and is a selective co-educational day school for pupils aged 8-18 years. Twycross House is a listed building dating back to 1703 and is located off the village green. The school is set in over thirty acres of grounds including gardens, woodland, sports pitches and playing fields. Other facilities include a hall, the Kirkpatrick Theatre, ICT suite, science laboratories, specialist art room, library, the Underwood dining room, sports hall, indoor swimming pool and outdoor tennis courts.The feel of a country house is preserved and fosters the warm family atmosphere which characterises the school’s pastoral care. They endeavour to cultivate a supportive and guiding environment where the pupils can flourish and achieve their full potential. Mutual trust and respect and the need to consider the consequences of individual decisions on the society of the school as a whole are emphasised. Individual initiative is encouraged and cooperation and fellowship across all ages are promoted. An academic education of high standard is provided leading to GCSE, A level and Oxbridge entrance. The school has an outstanding record of achievement in public examinations and in placing sixth formers at top universities. This is a result of receiving excellent tuition in small classes – the maximum class size is 20.

Senior 4 and 5 (Years 10 and 11)
GCSE courses: English language, English literature and mathematics plus options from French, German, Spanish, Latin (available also as an extra-curricular subject), Classical Greek, classical civilization, chemistry, physics, biology, history, geography, religious studies, computer science, drama, art and music. Games is a timetabled lesson.
Sixth Form
GCE A level options from English literature, English language and literature, mathematics, further mathematics, French, German, Spanish, Latin, Classical Greek, classical civilization, chemistry, physics, biology, economics, history, geography, geology, religious studies, government & politics, computer science, art and music.
Sports
School sport plays a major part in the life of all the students at Twycross. The Games department is based around team and individual sports, providing the students an abundance of opportunities to represent the school. In our ethos, we aim to balance competition and inclusivity to ensure every child has the possibility to enjoy, compete and flourish in sport. Within the lessons we strive to teach the students responsibility, resilience and leadership skills, and challenge each of them to give their all, with all they have.
Music
The Music Department is an extremely happy, vibrant and busy place, with both full and part time members of staff and peripatetic teachers who ensure that music remains an important and ever-present part of life.Music is taught throughout the school, becoming an optional choice at GCSE and A level alongside the other creative arts. Beyond the classroom all pupils have the opportunity to join instrumental ensembles and choirs.
Drama
Drama is taught throughout the school and is for all, regardless of ability or experience. If pupils want to be involved in the school productions then they can audition for the most suitable role or take a part in the production and stage management behind the scenes.
Art
Art is taught throughout the school and aims at developing and inspiring skills to express what the students see and understand of the world around them. The walls around the school are decorated with artwork from both past and present pupils. Art is an optional popular choice at both GCSE and A level.
