Ysgol Bro Preseli is located in the village of Crymych in north Pembrokeshire. The village is considered an educational and cultural centre for the surrounding villages. The surrounding Preseli mountains are rich in myth and legend and the area prides itself in its Welsh traditions and culture. It is an extremely exciting time in the history of Welsh Education in Pembrokeshire. By merging Ysgol y Frenni and Ysgol y Preseli, Ysgol Bro Preseli first all age 3-19 Welsh Medium School in the County.Ysgol y Frenni was established in 2006. Previously there were primary schools in Crymych, Blaenffos and Hermon, but the schools were merged and Ysgol y Frenni was formed. Ysgol y Preseli was established as a Bilingual Comprehensive School in 1991 and its success has seen a significant growth in the numbers of pupils receiving Welsh medium Education.
Primary Pupils
The motto ‘Gwreiddiau a Gorwelion’ (roots and horizons) summarises our aim of ensuring that all pupils are prepared for life from the time they nurture their academic and personal roots to the time they leave school and head for their own personal horizons. From the moment a child enters into their educational journey at Ysgol Bro Preseli, they will be nurtured, supported and encouraged every step of the way.
Secondary Pupils
The transition from Primary to Secondary school is a very important period in a child’s life. At Ysgol Bro Preseli we aim to ensure that for each pupil, the transition is as smooth and stress free as possible.In order to support your transition we have put together a series of introductory videos which can be watched on the transition Team on the Hwb Platform. They hope this will help to answer some of the questions you may have and alleviate some of the worries and anxieties that you may have. Sixth Form Pupils
Ysgol Bro Preseli prides itself on providing an opportunity for students to continue with their post -16 education in a school with excellent academic standards in a bilingual, close-knit communityYsgol Bro Preseli welcomes students from the current Year 11 cohort and any other interested pupils outside our own community to the Sixth Form. The Sixth Form prospectus outlines further details about the subjects on offer, subject-specific videos outlining the course content and the support available to students should they wish to attend the Sixth Form at Ysgol Bro Preseli.
Language Center
The main aim of the Language Centers is to provide an intensive course in Welsh for learners that will enable them to fully take part in bilingual education. This is extremely important in assisting primary schools to implement a concurrent language policy.The usual pattern of attendance is that children will attend the Ganolfan for two days a week during their first year and one day a week during the second year.Children have their lunch in the canteen of Ysgol Bro Preseli. There is usually a choice of hot lunches and a choice of sandwiches, wraps, fruits, yoghurts, and drinks. Children are also welcome to bring a packed lunch.There will be free swimming lessons for children who attend the Ganolfan during their first year.
