Avertical World Climbing Centre is an indoor climbing facility offering a range of climbing experiences for all skill levels. Visitors can enjoy bouldering with hundreds of climbing problems, as well as roped climbing and auto belay options for more advanced experiences. Features

Bouldering: Bouldering is low level climbing above crash mats without ropes. It’s exciting, easily accessible and suitable for beginners through to experts. We have hundreds of climbs (called ‘problems’) to test yourself against in various styles. To boulder here at Avertical World (AVW) you don’t have to book or complete a course, you can just turn up; if need be, you can also hire shoes from us (only £3).
Roped Climbing & Auto Belay: To rope climb in our centre you must meet one of the following criteria: be an experienced climber. be accompanied by an experienced climber who is happy to supervise. complete a beginners course with us. An experienced adult is someone aged 18+. A competent adult can sign 2 novices under their care.

Facilities

Parking: There is free on-street parking around the area and paid parking at Hunter Street - just 1min walk - from the centre. To make it easy, you could download the JustPark app before your visit.

What to see

Courses

Dundee Dynos: Dundee Dynos is our youth climbing programme. There are a few options suitable for kids aged 7 and over: introduction sessions; open sessions suitable for those who book infrequently; or block booking for beginner, intermediate or advanced.
Adult Taster Sessions: A 1 hour introduction session to climbing for adults. You can book between 1-4 adults per session. Sessions run Tuesday and Wednesday 18.30 - 19.30.
Ropes Course: Learn the essentials of roped climbing, including tying in and belaying, which will allow you to access the centre independently without an instructor. It is a 2 hour long course which runs every Monday and Friday evening at 18:00. If these times are not suitable please call or email the centre and we can see if we can accommodate you.
Lead Course: Learn to lead climb and belay indoors. It is a 3 hour long course, split between 2 sessions of 1.5 hours. Typically the sessions run Tuesdays at 18.30.
Parent Supervisor Course: Learn to take your kids roped climbing. The content is similar to a ropes course but children climb while parents learn the rope work. The 2 hour course can run any day of the week.
Abseil Course: Abseil tuition can be provided using the purpose-built abseil platform. A typical session would be one hour long.
Coaching: Improve your climbing with a 1 hour couching session. Examples of what can be covered in the session include: footwork, movement technique, training and structure for climbing, energy systems, general injury and rehab insight / management, etc (coaching is available for both adults and juniors).
