Inside is the famous castle well, traditionally believed to be the hiding place of Richard II’s treasure. In the visitor centre, the ‘Castle of the Rock’ display retells Beeston’s 4,000-year story. Set in 40 acres of woodland, Beeston Castle is a paradise for walkers, nature lovers and adventurous children.

This is one of the deepest castle wells in England, steeped in legend as the hiding place of Richard II's lost treasure. Thought to be buried here in 1399, the treasure has been missing for centuries despite many attempts to find it.
