Fishbourne Roman Palace & Gardens is the largest Roman residence discovered in Britain, offering a fascinating glimpse into ancient Roman life. Dating back nearly 2000 years, it showcases the grandeur of a luxurious Roman home with impressive design and history. Visitors can explore an extensive collection of mosaics, wander through recreated Roman gardens - the earliest found in the country - and discover museum exhibits about life in Roman times. The site features remains of the original palace, including evidence of under-floor heating, along with open spaces, picnic areas and a gift shop with Roman-themed items. Throughout the year, it also hosts events such as outdoor theatre, historical activities and children’s holiday programmes. 

Ticket prices are £15.00 for adults, £7.50 for children (5–17) and students, and £14.00 for seniors, with family tickets available at £28.00 and £42.00. Children under 5, essential carers and Sussex Archaeological Society members can enter for free.

  • By Car: Easily accessible by car, close to the A27 and A259.  Look out for the brown tourist sign. Free car and coach parking is available. Please note, from 6 April until 1 May, part of Salthill Road, near the Roman Palace, is closed to traffic due to works. Roman Way, the road that leads to the Roman Palace, will be accessible from the south only, via the A259. There are four dedicated parking spaces for visitors displaying a Blue Badge.
  • By Bus: A regular bus service operates to and from Chichester. The 700 (stop, Salthill Road) and 56 (stop, Roman Way), are between 5-10 minutes walk away.
  • By Train: There is a train station at Fishbourne which is between 5-10 minutes walk to the Roman Palace. Turn right when exiting Fishbourne Station and walk down Salthill Road. Turn left into Roman Way (look out for the brown sign). Follow Roman Way to Fishbourne Palace which will be on your right.
