The narrow-gauge railway is the heart of the adventure, with a 30-minute return journey and four stations where visitors can hop on and off. Attractions include the Treetop Adventure Trail with treehouses and wobbly bridges, the indoor Twilight Village hide-and-seek play area, Foxy Hollow with swings and slides, and the colourful Tunnel Maze. Woodland walks connect stations, there are den-building spots, and the site is dog friendly, with a café serving homemade cakes, sandwiches and local ice cream.

Standard ticket prices are £11.00 for adults and £9.50 for children (2–15), with under 2s free. Disabled adult tickets are £9.50, disabled child tickets £8.50, carers £8.50, and dogs £1.50. Features

  • The Perrygrove Railway: All Aboard the Perrygrove Railway! Chug through the woods and meadows of Perrygrove on our narrow gauge railway – the heart of your adventure! A full return journey takes around 30 minutes, with the freedom to hop on and off at four fun-filled stations along the way. Settle into one of our heritage carriages and enjoy unlimited rides all day. Trains usually run approximately every 40 minutes, and you’ll often find either a steam or diesel engine in service.
  • Treetop Adventure Trail: Climb, Slide and Explore! Perched high in the woodland canopy, our Treetop Adventure Trail is perfect for curious kids on a family day out in the Forest of Dean. Discover wooden treehouses linked by wobbly bridges, crawl spaces with a ladder and a fun slide back down to the forest floor. Little adventurers can peep out from the platforms and even wave to the train as it chugs past below!
  • Twilight Village: Indoor Hide and Seek Fun! Step inside the magical Twilight Village, the ultimate hide-and-seek spot at Perrygrove. Children can dart in and out of five little houses, connected by secret passages, staircases, and doorways just waiting to be discovered. It’s all indoors, making it perfect for rainy days or hot sunny ones – the adventure goes on whatever the weather. Best of all, there’s a special viewing window into the Café, so grown-ups can relax with a cuppa while still keeping an eye on the fun!
  • Foxy Hollow & Tunnel Maze Adventure: At nearby Foxy Hollow, children can enjoy swings, slides, a rope walk and a covered play area – perfect for rainy or hot days. There’s also lots of woodland space with everything you need for den building and tree climbing (at your own risk!). At the heart of the area is our fantastic Tunnel Maze – a twisty network of large colourful tubes with towers, windows and slides where children can weave, wriggle, pop up, and wave. It’s all the fun of getting lost, while staying safely in reach!
  • Woodland Walks: Step off the train and into the woods! Our woodland walks stretch the length of the railway between Rookwood and Oakiron Stations, taking around 15 minutes to stroll from end to end. With different paths to follow, you can keep it short and sweet or wander a little longer – perfect for curious kids (and grown-ups!) who love to explore. Along the way you’ll find plenty of spots for den building, and of course, don’t forget to wave when the train chugs by! Every season brings its own magic. In spring, the forest floor turns blue and white with carpets of bluebells and wild garlic. Summer is all about leafy shade and birdsong, autumn blazes with reds and golds, and winter offers frosty sparkle – just bring sturdy shoes.
