Gideon – The Mechanical Ho: Gideon is a 100% bomb-proof bay gelding with five paces: walk, collected trot, medium trot, collected canter, and medium canter. Ideal for riders seeking a gentle return to riding, improving position and muscle tone, or maintaining fitness. Suitable for nervous or novice riders, as well as those returning from injury or a long break. A saddle is provided, but personal saddles may also be used. Lessons can be taken on Gideon, or riders familiar with him may ride independently.
Riding Lessons: Witcham Equestrian Centre offers a range of lessons for all abilities, with or without a personal horse. Options include private lessons of 30, 45, or 60 minutes, semi-private lessons in small groups, and group lessons. Lessons cover flat work and jumping for beginners to advanced riders. Initial assessment lessons are provided for new clients to match riders with the most suitable lesson and horse. Specialist lessons are also available, including lunging, long-reining, and stable management/horse care. Maximum rider weight is 14 stone in riding clothes. Lessons are offered pay-as-you-go or as part of the Premier Rider package, which covers five lessons.
Syndicate Opportunities: The syndicate scheme provides riders without a personal horse the chance to ride regularly without the responsibilities of ownership. Open only to Premier Riders with a minimum of six months’ experience. Current cost: £50 per week per share. Syndicate benefits include no capital outlay for horse, tack, rugs, or equipment, flexible timetables, access to WEC facilities, and opportunities to hack out and compete (with permission). Sharers must be at least 12 years old, with parental approval required for those under 18.
