West Hatch is a thriving, diverse and successful school that has, for a considerable amount of time, held a great standing within the community. There is a tangible sense of community and calmness about the school.  West Hatch has a special ethos; they are a family dedicated to all our students excelling academically and personally in our school and beyond by seizing the opportunities they provide. At West Hatch they provide the students with the opportunities to expand their horizons, to become what they didn’t know they could be and help them to believe in themselves and have exceptionally high aspirations for their future. They ensure that the students are provided with a wide range of opportunities throughout their time at West Hatch to help them see what is possible for them in the future. They have a fine track record academically and the staff work very hard to ensure the students achieve exceptionally well. Throughout the curriculum they develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to be successful from Year 7 to 13 and beyond, so that students are able to forge the best possible careers and futures.

Curriculum
Everybody with responsibility for learning at West Hatch believe that the curriculum aims: to develop confident, resilient and ambitious learners who are well prepared for their futures academically and personally. All young people are entitled to a broad school curriculum but also one that is relevant to their learning needs.  At West Hatch they place an emphasis on a progressive curriculum, focused on the learner and aimed to raise standards. They believe that students are more empowered to achieve within a curriculum model that emphasises specialist teaching and learning in discrete subject areas so the curriculum is mainly organised this way. Whilst preparing the students for the world of work is important, they see the curriculum as the totality of experiences which they plan for the students through their time in education; so the curriculum also includes elements that educate the young people towards a safe, rich and fulfilling life, and offers opportunities for them to develop through a diverse range of extra-curricular activities.
