Description

Al-Noor Primary School is Independent Primary school in Redbridge for kids aged 9 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )

Al-Noor Muslim Primary School is an Independent, faith-based school for boys and girls on the outskirts of East London. We are a one-form-entry (one class per year group) and deliver a curriculum based on the National Curriculum, informed by our ethos and supplemented by Qur’anic and Islamic studies. The school was opened in 2002 and is proud to have seen through thirteen year six cohorts since then. When the Al-Noor Foundation was successful in its bid to open a Voluntary Aided school on the site of our school building, we vacated it for two years to allow building work to take place. When the building was complete, the new school opened with only four classes leaving many spare classrooms. They kindly allowed us to move in and use the spare rooms, so we moved back to our old address in September 2018.

Curriculum
The curriculum is underpinned by the Islamic values that inform both the ethos and vision of our school and is the means by which the school achieves its objective of educating children in the core knowledge, skills and understanding that they need to lead purposeful, fulfilling lives and become well educated and well-rounded British citizens. Stretching, exciting and stimulating lessons offering self-directed learning opportunities to all pupils including those with SEND, will expose them to the best that has been thought and said, helping to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement. They set high expectations for our pupils, whom we desire will become confident, positive, articulate, responsible and highly achieving individuals who have a strong sense of identity and purpose; who are self-disciplined, morally upright, emotionally secure and spiritually intelligent; and who respectfully work with others from diverse backgrounds, for the common good.

Features

Things to note

Sports
Al Noor School has been keen to develop the Sports provision in the school. The school has an annual sports day as well as taking part in the Muslim Inter School Sports’ Day. As a school our adopted sport is Tag Rugby and pupils from Year One to Year Six all play on a weekly basis. Most recently Year One have started swimming classes. This is all in addition to our general PE curriculum.

Enrichment
The school places a strong emphasis on enrichment. Pupils on average will have 6 trips a year to various locations from the Science Museum through to adventure centres. All trips are identified with a close link to the school curriculum as well as the development of pupils overall character. In Year 6 pupils take part in a residential to help develop key life skills as they prepare to move on from Al Noor.

SEN
Some children may require learning support due to behavioural, emotional or learning-related difficulties and which may require further investigation. The school will involve parents as soon as possible to ascertain the best course of action. Often, sustained early intervention, with home support, will enable the child to make sufficient progress so that no further action will be required. In the event that it is agreed that the child will need further support, the school’s SENCO will enter into dialogue and discussion with parents or carers and with teachers to create an ‘Individual Education Plan’ (IEP). Targets are specific to the child’s learning needs and his/her progress will be reviewed regularly against them throughout the year. The school will ensure that appropriate reasonable adjustments are made in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND code of practice in order for pupils with SEND to have full access to all of the curriculum, making good progress across their years at the school.

Admission Details

Al-Noor Primary Independent School is no longer taking applications for Reception, Year One, Year Two, Year Three and Year Four. This is because it will gradually phase out to make way for the new and growing Al-Noor Voluntary Aided Primary (www.al-noorprimary.org.uk) in whose building it is now situated whilst it is not full.
