Beaumont School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. It was founded in 1938 and has become a school of over 1200 students, including 300 in the sixth form. It is situated to the east of St Albans in Hertfordshire and is within access of the city centre.
In 2003 it achieved a Language College status and in 2007, having been identified as a High Performing Specialist School, Beaumont was then able to obtain a second specialism as a Maths and Computing College. In 2007 Beaumont achieved the International Award from the British Council and offered the International Baccalaureate as an alternative to A-levels; as of 2011 the IB is no longer offered at Beaumont school. A December 2008 Ofsted inspection accorded the school a Grade 2 (good), whilst the sixth form achieved an outstanding rating.
Beaumont School houses over 1300 students on a daily basis in a wide range of specialised areas and classrooms.
Music, Drama, and Languages have their own dedicated buildings while the remainder of subjects are housed within the three main school buildings.
They have seven purpose built and recently refurbished Science labs; eight computer rooms; dedicated Technology rooms and a newly extended Sixth Form area with both communal and quiet study areas. These include the Sixth Form Library, the Atrium social and cafe area as well as a suite of computers for exclusive use by Sixth Form students.
Students participating in sport do so using our four court sports hall (which includes a state-of-the-art fitness suite), gym, all-weather pitch, playing fields and four hard court tennis / netball courts.
The Sports Hall Complex was opened in September 2016 and incorporates the school’s main Reception as well as the Maths and Computer Science teaching areas. In October 2017, it’s design was commended by the St Albans Civic Society.
Home Learning
They believe that home learning is an important part of students’ education, extending and reinforcing work done in school. It is set regularly for all students and the amount set increases as students progress through the school. Home learning is any work or activity which students are required to do outside of lesson time and tasks can include reading, revising, researching, planning, designing and sketching in addition to written work.
Beaumont School Library
Beaumont library is a vibrant facility that enhances and supports learning across the curriculum. It also offers a welcoming environment for students who are looking for a place to read, relax and retreat momentarily from the rigours of the school day.
