Nursery
Nursery represents an important stage in a child’s development where they establish the foundations of their learning and memories are created. The daily routine at Magic Tree ensures all children enjoy a wide range of activities using both the indoor space and outdoor environment.Based on the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, each child’s development focuses on Communication, Physical and Social skills, before moving onto Numeracy and Literacy.Creativity is nurtured through a diverse selection of materials and resources and children’s understanding of themselves and the world around them is developed.
Pre Prep
Pre-Reception, Reception, Years 1 and 2 make up the Pre-Prep department at Belmont Grosvenor School. As part of a larger school, our children are fortunate to benefit from excellent facilities, equipment and specialist staff, whilst enjoying close relationships with experienced class teachers and teaching assistants. The children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and benefit from a well-planned and resourced curriculum. This is enhanced by specialist teachers in music, drama, French, Forest Schools, PE and swimming.Reception, Years 1 and 2 are based in well-equipped classrooms in Nidd, with a computer suite attached. Pre-Reception is close by in the Stables block.
Prep
The Prep children, whilst still benefiting from the secure setting of their classroom, enjoy access to our more specialised teaching areas. These include a state-of-the-art Science laboratory, fully-equipped IT suite, Art and Design Technology suite, dedicated Modern Foreign Languages room and a Music department that includes the latest computerised music composition facilities.Children at this level begin the thorough preparation for secondary school and, as they progress, lessons are increasingly taught by subject specialists.
Outdoor Facilities
Set on 20 acres of beautiful grounds on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, our outdoor facilities are second to none. All the children, from the youngest in Nursery to the oldest in Year 6, are encouraged to make the most of the outdoor space both at play times and in lessons. Teachers at Belmont Grosvenor School take their classes outside whenever possible and they have a vast array of resources to ensure lessons are educational as well as enjoyable.
Sport Facilities
The jewel in the crown at Belmont Grosvenor is our newly-refurbished indoor heated swimming pool. With separate boys and girls changing rooms, an airy reception area and seating around the side, the pool is an extremely well used, and an incredibly popular facility at school. The gym and School Hall has the benefit of an updated stage with lighting and sound system, and is fully-equipped with both portable apparatus, as well as fixed ropes and bars. The site is the location for a specially-designed orienteering course, and is perfect for cross-country running.
Library Facilities
The main school library and dedicated Pre-Prep library, play a key role in the development of our Literacy programme and help foster a love of literature and learning. To help encourage reading and research skills, they give the children plenty of opportunity to spend time in the libraries, which are secure and attractive places for children to browse and work. Both of these, together with the class libraries, are accessible to all members of the school community and are equipped to support and enrich the skills of reading for pleasure and independent learning across the curriculum.
